My airways restricted as I wheezed and cried. He crushed my throat forcefully but not enough pressure to kill me— which clearly wasn't his intention. He wanted me to express all my fear and trauma at once.
As much as I kicked, scratched, and tried to bite him it was to no avail. I wanted to scream however the lack of oxygen getting to my lungs triggered almost every fight and flight response possible. Tears poured from my eyes as light emerged from the doorway while it swung open. My eyes, as blurry as they were, were able to make out the figure standing in the doorway— it was Deklyn. I called out to him softly as Rocky laughed maniacally.
"This is your new boyfriend, ah?" His thick Russian accent sent chills through my spine and not in a good way.
"Let her go." Deklyn demanded obviously pissed.
Rocky's harsh laugh filled the room creating more tension than what was already there. I squirmed in his grasp as it tightened around my neck as I clawed at his hand trying to scratch at his face. He grew even more angry as he used his free hand to dig in his pocket to pull out a small switchblade. Frantically trying to escape his grip he switched his hand for the knife and smirked in my face evilly.
"I thought you could fight Katarina.. we both know your mother couldn't." He chuckled at his own hurtful remark.
I tried as hard as I could to push him off of me as Deklyn tried to rush over and help.
"Take another fucking step and I won't hesitate, American boy." Rocky yelled never breaking eye contact with me.
Deklyn stopped in his tracks furious he wasn't able to come to me. The blade pressed against my neck feeling as if it might break through the skin.
"Rocky.. please don't do this. You and your father got what you wanted a long time ago." I gasped and pleaded.
"You think my father killing your precious mother excuses the amount of debt she caused? I told him he should have sold her off to the whore house to repay it but he said killing her was more merciful." He growled barely an inch from my face.
He moved swiftly and grabbed my wrist, pinning it to the wall then stabbed the blade right through the palm on my hand. My mouth fell open as no sound came from it as the waves of pain rushed over me.
"I'd like to see you fight now." He grinned as he left the blade in my hand and took a step back away from me putting his fists up at me.
Rocky swung landing an excruciatingly hard punch into my stomach causing my to double over and fall to the ground. I gasped and whined in pain as his foot connected with my side causing me to cry out.
He spat on me as he leaned down then grumbled to me in Russian before getting up, smiling at Deklyn innocently and leaving the room. I laid on the ground, sobbing in defeat. Deklyn hurried over to me grazing his hands gently over my body retracting them quickly as I winced.
"Kat.." He said softly not knowing what to say.
He searched his pockets slightly panicked cursing loudly to himself.
"Kat where is your phone?" He asked getting angrier by the second.
"I.. I.. think he threw it." I whispered all choked up.
Deklyn scanned the room as he flicked on the light switch picking up my phone across the room. He immediately put the phone to his ear as my vision started to blur then blacked out completely.
