"Like hell I am!"

(This contains swearing!)

(Nobody's POV)

The eerie silence quickly dawned upon everyone in the room as they stared between the agent and the head. It was supposed to be a simple recruiting mission, but instead. They chose to bother him at the wrong time.

"I've been given a break because you bastards have worked my fucking ass off all year long!" The furious agent shouted glaring at the board members. "Language, please Mr. America," A woman coaxed, she had a light sage green skin tone, however. Her actual flag design was blocked under the dimming light.

America sighed at the remark and readjusted his sunglasses to fit better. "If you really must have someone on the job, why don't you take my brothers? Or perhaps even China. Why must it be me?" The sunsetting rays reflected upon the American's face with hues of red, orange, and purple.

"You promised me a break," He spoke with a calm and gentle voice. Unlike his usual self.

The rest of the board stayed silent as they all thought his argument was pretty valid. That is until the head chipped in. "Because none of them are quite qualified nor experienced with this particular one." The head spoke in a serious but refined tone. America raised an eyebrow, "elaborate."

The head sighed in disappointment, "Out of everyone in the agency, you of all only refer to me with such...informality." With his usual dramatic flair with hints of elegance, "Not even a simple 'please'," Leading to a much louder and more dramatic sigh. America glared at the dark board room with an 'Are you fucking kidding me' expression. For about thirty seconds, then he groaned in frustration.

"Would you PLEASE elaborate," America scoffed. A few small shuffles were heard from the other side, "It's not great, but it's a start..." the head muttered in nuisance. A loud clap was heard as if the head was clasping his hands together. "You see, the main reason we wanted you to...partake in this mission. It is simply because it's an exchange."

America titled his head and half of the screen was completely white from the sun. "You're joking." He spoke in disbelief which was returned with a few seconds of silence. Until he chuckled. "Dear director, there has to be more to it, does it not?" A sinister thin smile wrapped itself on the American agent. "Because there is no way you would have me attend an exchange whereas China specializes in that type of shit, not to mention the whole ass board is here."

The same woman sighed "Please mind your language,  and besides, we just so happened to be called in at this time," she commented. "Sure, sure..." America responded not believing anything she said. "Mr. America, don't you think it'd be polite for you to show some decency to the board members?" Another spoke this one, however. Was a male with a dark saturated blue skin tone. "Like....?"

"Removing your sunglasses? Have a better attitude? Showing respect?" America gasped jokingly, "Uhm, hell no."

A sky blue hand was placed on top of the guy's shoulder, "You wouldn't need to worry, almost everyone here has seen them." The head coaxed. America's cheeks flushed with embarrassment, "No- I mean there's literal fucking sun in my eyes," he shot back at the head.

"My dear, the sun is behind you, is it not?" Another woman said with a soft voice said. America looked flabbergasted at this point despite being questioned by every one of the board members. He wouldn't let them win so easily.

"Forget about the whole glasses thing, just explain to me why this transaction is so important." A few of the board members laughed quietly in amusement at the American agent actually wanting to know more about the assignment. Only for him to glare at the dark room. "I'm honestly glad that you're willing to know, however, there is only so much we can tell you over this," The head replied ignoring the small bits of laughter.

"Expect the usual information, and get this done quickly. I don't want to know you accidentally set another politician on fire." The head's voice became stern and cold, and America knew that he was being dead serious.

The American nodded and soon the screen faded to black. He stared at it for a minute or two. Make sure it actually ended and it wasn't the sun playing tricks on him. His hands clasped over the screen with as much force as he could muster. The screen stayed in his hands.

"Stupid idiots," he muttered with distaste as two agents dressed in white formal wear approached him. "If you were planning on blending in, you should've come dressed in more beachy clothes," America sighed, 'Talk about causing people to stare,' He thought to himself.

"We were just instructed to give you this, there wasn't a whole ordeal needing us to change our entire attire," Agent 1 explained. America raised a brow looking at the agent. Their brown locks looked soaked as their cheeks flushed red. Sweat pooled down from their forehead and a small smile crept onto America's face. "Alright, whatever you say." He held his hand out and the second agent handed America a beige-coloured wallet. "Don't lose your current chip." Agent 2 warned clutching onto his jacket and loosening it. The two agents looked at each other as if saying mentally 'why did they make us wear this?'.

"Yep, I know. Now leave me alone, I still need to enjoy my time off." America scowled shooing the two agents away before retracting onto the white beach chair covered in small bits of sand. 'Is it truly impossible for someone to get a break around here?' He thought looking at the bright sky, the small mellow clouds moved rather quicker than usual.

And he wondered something that he never would've thought of.

"What would it be like, if I was normal?"

Author's Notes:

HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA CHAPTER ONE IS OUT!!!!

I apologize for not uploading for 2 weeks mainly because it caught me in a bad time, especially with the prologue being published 2 days before disaster struck.

I butchered this in one day since I really didn't want people to wait another 6 months for me to upload and I need to break this cycle of procrastination.

Other than that, I'd like to say I'll try to get a good uploading schedule before school starts (Yes I know it's only August 7 but there are freaking back-to-school ads, wth am I supposed to do?) and upload regular covers for my chapters! :D

But in the end, this is all for this chapter cya next time :))
