I've lived a pretty boring life. Everything about me and my family is described as average or normal. The problem is, that I live in a boring setting with boring people but I am far from normal. I've had many interests in my life that no one knows about. When my parents found out that I didn't fit into their perfectly normal lives, they decided to pretend I wasn't their problem. Our relationship remains very cold and distant. I'm used to being alone, to be honest, I prefer it. Other people are all the same. What I didn't know was that for the first time I was going to meet someone intriguing.
Joy's bedroom, 6:00 am.
I woke up feeling drained. My eyes burned as I opened them to glare at the clock. God, it's early. That doesn't really surprise me though. For as long as I can remember I've been waking up hours before my parents. I just don't really want to see them. My only solution is to leave early and sneak in late. It sucks, but what can you do?
I sat up and felt the cool air embrace my skin. Early mornings are always cold here in Helltown, which is ironic considering the name. I got up and put on my school uniform. pulling my pink hair into low pigtails I stared at my reflection. Sometimes I can't even recognize the girl in the mirror. Her pale, almost porcelain skin and light hazel eyes that have a yellow vibrance about them. She has thick lashes and narrow sarcastic eyes. To others, she appears to be me, but I don't see it.
I finished getting ready and quietly stepped down the hallway.
unknown: Shuffle*
I froze.
Joy: What the hell was that?!
unknown: SNOOOORRRRRREEE*
Joy: Sigh*
I was going to grab myself something to eat before I left, but I don't want to risk waking up my parents. Whatever I'll just skip breakfast today.
I quietly opened the front door and stepped outside. The cruel and heartless morning air slapped me in the face as soon as I did. As I began walking to school I started to think. Despite the unforgiving weather, I actually like mornings. The streets are pretty quiet at this time where I live. I can move freely without anyone around. It's exhilarating. No one can stare at me or pretend not to see me while they whisper to their friends. In the morning, no one can judge me except for myself.
