Algebra 2, Room 451, 9:04 am

The first week of school ended up being pretty uneventful. Other than the first day, Joy and I hadn't had any more encounters outside of class. The girl was an enigma, I never saw her anywhere on campus other than in my classes. She disappears every time the bell rings.

I turned my head around to peek behind my shoulder, Joy was looking down at her paper taking notes. Her fingers were long and slender with black nails. she was holding a pen that looked like something a business executive would have. Unfortunately, my prolonged staring caught her attention and she cracked a smile. I flinched and turned back around.

She's a strange person but something about her was more off than when we first met. Maybe something happened? Or maybe she wasn't as curious about me as I thought? No, if that were true she wouldn't smile like that. I can feel her stares every once in a while, but she hasn't said a word to me since the playground encounter.

I packed up all of my supplies and tucked away my notebook. As I stood up I slung my bag over my shoulder and turned around ready to see the sarcastic smile I saw moments ago. But her seat was empty.

She's gone again! Damn, she is fast. I don't really know why I care so much. She just made a big impression on my first day, I expected her to be more of a troublesome nuisance. Instead, I almost never interact with her. Whatever, I have to get to my next class.

Cafeteria, 12:07 pm

As soon as I made it to the Cafeteria I made a beeline for my usual table with Cassie and Noah. They were already seated and Cassie saw me first.

Cassie: "Hey Delilah!"

I laughed at her enthusiasm

D: "Hey."

Noah waved at me kindly

These two and I have become really good friends. We get along really well and I sit with them every day during lunch. Cassie seems as bright and cheerful as ever and Noah is still quiet but sweet.

The two of them were silent. For Noah, this was pretty normal but Cassie was a different story. She just kept looking at me deep in thought.

Delilah: "Is something on my face?"

with the most innocent expression, she bluntly asked me-

Cassie: "Are you single?"

Shocked I widened my eyes.

Delilah: "I'm sorry?!?"

Cassie: "Hahaha, sorry that was pretty out of the blue, I was just asking because I think you and Noah would make a nice couple."

Noah Choked on his juice as it shot out of his nose.

Noah: "Khak khoff, what?!?"

Cassie: "Pfft jeez Noah calm down, you're acting like I just asked her to kill your mother or something."

I handed Noah a napkin, and he quietly wiped his face. He had this weird look like he was hiding something. It seemed like he wanted to say something but was pushing it down. Cassie noticed it too.

Cassie: "Noah are you okay?"

Noah: "Yeah I'm fine, Your question just caught me off guard."

Cassie was concerned but still moved on.

Cassie: "Anyway, I have been trying to set this guy up with someone for a while. He always says no but I think you guys get along pretty well. I just thought I would ask."
