9. I'm With You

Alright whose ready to watch Jade's journey to LA?" Sam said as he sat down.

We all cheered and Sam hit play. As the screen faded in to me on the screen I leaned down on the couch and covered my face. It's weird to watch myself talking on camera cause I'm not use to it. As I leaned down though I ended up leaning into Colby a bit, he didn't move so I assumed he didn't mind.

"Hey so, this is my first ever vlog" I said on camera, "but you are in for a journey. My name is Jade, and this is the story of surprising my best friend after 6 years apart."

"Awww" a few people said, and I found myself smiling under my hands as I slowly dropped them.

"Colby and I have been best friends since we couldn't even walk. Our families did everything together. We celebrated birthdays together, christmas, easter, everything. Honestly it just felt like I had a brother who lived in a different house" I laughed, "we did almost everything together."

As I talked I'd switch between my face and pictures of Colby and I from when we were younger and as we grew up.

"Once we got to high school Colby became friends with Sam. As graduation rolled around they decided to head out to LA to love out their dream. I remember Colby asking me to come with, but I wasn't ready for that yet. But I'm not lying when I say him leaving was the hardest thing I've ever had to deal with."

I felt tears welling up in my eyes as the memories flooded back of that day, and Colby then lifted his arm up and scooted closer to me, letting his arm fall around me as I laid my head down on his shoulder. I knew I didn't have to be sad anymore.

The video went on about how we kind of drifted apart over the years, but this year something changed and we became close again.

"It felt like I had my best friend back, and I knew I didn't want to lose him again. So I decided what better way to make sure that doesn't happen then to move to LA?"

I then told the story of how I started talking to Kat, some clips of us planning and facetiming, then it switched to the day I was flying to LA for the first time.

"Colby thinks I'm at work right now but I'm actually about to be in the same state as him... for the first time in 6 years" I said as I walked through the airport, "and the fact that I can't even see him while I'm there is going to drive me crazy."

Everyone laughed around us and I felt Colbys hand run up and down my back. The video switched to when I landed, met Kat in person for the first time, her calling me pretty.

"Dude you were so gorgeous I was like what the heck, you were meant for LA" Kat said with a giggle.

I rolled my eyes as I lifted my head up to look at back at her.

"Oh stop it" I said with a smile.

"You really are really pretty" Tara chimed in.

I found myself blushing as I looked back at the screen and shook my head, and Tara huffed.

"Come on, Colby do you think she's pretty?"

I slowly turned to look at Colby who was already looking at me. He had a small smirk on his face as his eyes looked back and forth between mine.

"She's beautiful" he said softly, "Ive told her that already."

I couldn't look away from him as we smiled at each other, I only did when the growing "aww's" around us had my cheeks burning. I knew Colby thought I was pretty, but to hear him say that in front of all his friends actually made me believe it more.

We focused our attention back on the screen, Colby ended up taking his hand off my back as he readjusted in the couch, but with that he ended up scooting up right against me. I just smiled to myself, I could feel him look over at me for a second but I chose to not acknowledge it.
