Ever

This week has been the best one of my life. Damen completes me and makes everything better. I don't know how he does it, but everything is beyond amazing with him. Saturday morning, I wake up from dreaming about me and Damen getting married. We were so happy and I'm secretly hoping it happens one day.

I get up off of my bed and start looking through my closet for what I'm going to wear today. I decide on some cute jean shorts that are up to my mid-thigh and decide on a beige lace shirt that has an undershirt sewed onto it already. It's short sleeve and it's puffy, then it has a sort of rubber band around the bottom so it could fit me cinched. I love this shirt! I set my clothes down on my bed and run into the shower. I take my time and get out after an hour. Then I put on the clothes I decided on.

Now, for shoes. I look through my closet and settle on my white Vans. These are super comfy and I don't want to be wearing sandals if we're going to go to the park. I then run to my mirror and put on my mascara. As for my hair? I made the decision to leave it natural today. After that, I add a rosy lip stain. I twirl in front of my mirror and yup, decide that I made the right choices.

Today is my first date with Damen and I can't wait. My tummy is so fluttery and I can't keep this huge smile off of my face. I grab my camera out of my drawer and hang it around my neck as I skip down the hallway and do this little dance down the stairs. When I walk into the kitchen, I smell an amazing scent that I can only name with my mom's delicious french toast. Yay, me!

"Hey, mommy," I say as I walk over to my mom and give her a kiss on the cheek.

"Hi, honey," she replies. "You smell really good and you're pretty dressed up, too. You going out?"

"Thanks and yeah. I'm gonna go with Damen to the park. He's picking me up in an hour," I answer.

She looks at me with a look of shock and says, "Oh? Is it a date?"

Somewhere along the lines I told my mom about Damen and how I felt about him. She thought it was cute and thought that we were perfect for each other so of course, she's dying to know if it's our first date.

I start blushing and say, "Yeah, our first one."

She hugs me and says, "Awe, honey! I'm so happy for you. I could tell, you really like him and I hope that he realizes this, too."

"Mo-o-om, he was the one that asked me out. He's actually technically been my boyfriend since Monday," I reply as I feel myself blushing even harder.

"Oh my, and why didn't you say anything before?" she asks as she's serving me two pieces of yummy french toast.

"I didn't know if it was a for sure thing and to be honest, I didn't say anything, because I still can't believe he's actually mine, he's my boyfriend," I say as I feel this giant smile creeping on my face.

"Oh, I see what you mean, sweetie," she says as she's handing me my favorite, a strawberry milkshake.

We talk more about my feelings towards Damen and my mom decides that she wants to meet him. Ugh, I didn't really want this yet, but tell her that she'll get to see him when he gets here to pick me up, anyway. A few minutes after that, the doorbell rings and I'm getting off the kitchen stool, when my mom runs to the door and beats me to it. Oh my God, really? She better not embarrass me.

I jog after her, but it's too late because just as I'm entering the living room, I hear her saying, "Oh, hello Damen. I'm Mrs. Nightingale, Ever's mother. I've heard so much about you already!"

I get there and Damen sees me. I mouth the word, "Sorry," to him and he just smiles.

Then he turns to look at my mom and says, "Hello, Mrs. Nightingale. It's really nice to meet you. I can see where Ever gets her beauty from."

My mom starts blushing and says, "You're too kind."

"Okay, we've gotta go now, mom," I say as I walk to stand in front of her.

"Oh, so soon?" she asks.

"Yeah, I don't want to bring her back late, Mrs. Nightingale," Damen answers.

"I'll be back at 7, I promise," I say as I lean in to give her a kiss on the cheek. "Love ya!" I holler as we're walking down the front steps.

"It was a pleasure meeting you, Mrs. Nightingale," says Damen as we reach the streets.

When she finally closes the door, Damen grabs me by the waist and brings me into a hug. Oh God, he smells so good. I'm lucky.

"Hey, gorgeous. I've missed you," he says as he kisses my cheek.

"I missed you, too," I reply.

Then he holds my hand and we start walking.

"So, how has your morning been, beautiful?" he asks.

"It's been good so far. My mommy made me french toast and my favorite strawberry milkshake," I say with a smile.

"Oh, yeah? Well, Guadalupe made me muffins, pancakes, and avena," he says with a smirk.

"Avena? What's that?"

"She calls it her specialty. It's some kind of Mexican dish. It tastes amazing! When you come over one day, I'll ask her to make you some," he replies.

I let go of his hand a pick up my camera. He's so beautiful. Then I take a picture of him as he's walking. It comes out perfect with just the side of his body showing and the sun behind him. I love it.

"Hey," he says. "Don't take a picture of just me. Let's take a picture together."

"Really? Come here then," I say as I grab him and pull him towards me.

We take a couple of pictures while walking to the park. He's amazing. We took one of us smiling side by side into the camera, another one of us holding hands, one where he's kissing my cheek, one where I'm kissing his cheek and then one with us touching noses. They came out so cute!

When we get to the park, he suddenly says, "Hey, I got an idea." He takes my camera off of me and walks up to a complete stranger and asks her to take a picture of us.

He comes back to me and says, "Get on my back. I'm gonna give you a piggy back ride. I asked that girl over there to take a picture of us from behind. It's gonna be the best one on your camera, baby."

Awe, isn't he the cutest thing ever? He turns around and I get on his back with my arms wrapped around his neck. Then he starts walking in front of the girl really slow so that the picture won't come out blurry and I burst out laughing. He starts smiling and that's how the picture is taken.

He grabs my camera back, says thanks and then we look at it. It came out perfect. We walk, holding hands to the middle of the field. He takes off his backpack and then we lay down together. He kisses me on the cheek as we lay there watching the clouds pass us by.

He turns to look at me and says, "Baby, I love you."

I look at him and say, "I love you, too."

Then I recognize that look on his face, like he's going to say something else.
