First Day of School

Ever

On my way to school, thoughts about Damen are invading my head. I try not to think about him and I focus on getting to class. I know that that small interaction earlier made me late. So, I jog to the office to ask for my late pass.

"Hey Ms. Rosy, how's your morning been so far? It's a beautiful day today, isn't it?" I say cheerfully. Ms. Rosy is one of my favorite people at this school. She's in charge of the main office and she's such a sweetheart.

"Good morning, Ever. My morning has been just wonderful, honey. Thank you for asking. How's your beautiful morning been?" she answers.

I respond, "It's been good and bad. I ran into a beautiful stranger today, but our small conversation is what made me late for my first day back at school."

"Oh, well that's just cruel. Did you get his number?" she winks.

"Unfortunately, no, but I need to ask you for a late pass now. Please?" I ask.

"Of course, honey," she says as she hands me my late pass.

"Thank you, Ms. Rosy. I'll see you around!" I reply as I walk out the door.

Just a sweetheart, I tell you. I jog to my first period class, which is unfortunately A.P. English Lit. I hate the teacher in this class, because all she does is sleep all day and I've never learned anything in her class before. As I walk in, I'm surprised to see that she's wide awake and cheerful. Maybe today hasn't been so awful after all. I hand her my pass and she just smiles at me as she takes it. Okay, this is kind of creepy, now. What has gotten into Ms. Annabelle?

"Good morning, class," she says with a smile that reminds me of the Cheshire Cat. "I hope you all had a wonderful summer and I'm sure you're all dying to tell the entire class what you did over the summer. So, I want you all to write an essay about your most favorite thing that you did this summer."

Oh great, isn't this something 3rd graders should be doing? Really, Ms. Annabelle? Whatever you say, teacher. I take out paper and a led pencil from my new panda backpack. Yeah, I said panda. Isn't that the most coolest thing ever?

I start writing my name and thinking of which event I liked the most about this summer. Everyone around me is talking so loud, I can literally hear every sickening story that they are saying. Anyway, I think I'm going to write about when I went to the One Direction concert. It was one of the best days of my entire life. Suddenly, the class falls silent. I look up and oh my God, I can't believe who I'm seeing.
