RON LEATHERS: #2

"Good morning, wakie wakie up. Good morning, wakie wakie up!" I groaned. "Ugh." The sounds I let out in the past five minutes sounded like someone suffering from constipation. I feel like having an elephant trampled all over my cerebrum. "Ugh!" The alarm was still blaring. Mercy, please show some pity. I hope my mobile phone could commit suicide. Life is so unfair that it was so hard for me to have a goodnight's sleep. I opened my eyes reluctantly and met with a figure that was too focused on the newspaper, that given an opportunity, he may jump into it. Was he blind? Why couldn't he acknowledge the fact that I have been trying to sleep? Was he deaf?

"Switch it off, Alec," I asked him. But life would be too easy if he listened to me. "Dude?" I practically pleaded with him. I never do that. At least not for sleeping. "Hey, you lazy bum! Switch it off." At that, Alec slowly raised his gaze and fixed it on me. "The clock is nearly 10:00 am. You're still on the bed, I am here trying to fix your mess. And you call me a 'lazy-" He looked threatening. But none of that mattered more than my sleep. His statement was cut off as another figure entered my room. I guess people forgot the meaning of the word- 'privacy'. "He woke up?" Alec nodded in response. She scurried in and pulled open the curtains. And that was it, I was dead as meat. My brain cells have got fried. "Leah, please! My head is hurting."

"Good morning to you too, Mr Leathers." I glared at her in response.

"The city has got an incredible gift for you, my dear." Alec has got this bad habit of killing me with his sarcasm.

"Why are you both doing this? Are you drunk? I'm not playing your game and-" I looked into Leah's eyes for an impact. "Stop invading my privacy." I snuggled into the pillow and pulled the comforter over my body. "Well, who would've known that you had it for Anna?" So, he was using this card.

"I wasn't interested in Anna." I stood for my defence. Just because nobody saw us parting our ways yesterday, did not mean that we were having something between us. I cannot change the way this world looks at me. But I was sure I could decide the way these two should look at me because they were both a part of my world. Even after the declaration of truth, Alec's eyes displayed distress while Leah's remained stoic. Leah sighed deeply and left the scene.

"So, what was the big deal? Why is she overly worked up?" I hopped off of the bed and got into my bathrobe. Alec twisted his mouth to the right.

"Our sponsors declined the deal. They just reported us. Leah has been trying everything she could to get them back." My entire stance froze after Alec's words got registered. Calm down, Ron. Wherever the problem is, there lies a solution. I exhaled deeply and looked back at Alec for him to explain the further details. "Why? They were extremely delighted for sponsoring us last night". I prepared an instant coffee with the sachets in the room. Once I sipped it, my head felt a little lighter and at ease.

"Everyone knows about you and Rebecca, right?" I nodded. "Under the light of your relationship with her, your activities with Anna were indefensible. It had been clear from last night that you owned a malfunctioning character. So, they did not want to be related to you in any way."

"I didn't do anything with Anna."

"Ok." But it sounded insincere due to which I flinched at him.

"The pictures told another story, Ron." What the hell?

"There were no those kinds of paps at the party, Alec. They were from fashion mag-" Then, it struck my head- the flashlight. I do remember the fact that I registered an incident where I spotted a camera flashlight last night. I was unable to look at the source because I was feeling too dizzy. And then, Anna kissed- Ron, let's stop there. "It wasn't the real story."
