On board the Inevitable, the crew excitedly prepared to dock, most of the members gathered at the forecastle deck as they neared the large entrance of Three Bridges in awe. Jacob watched with a smile, Sarah soon walking up to his side with a smile as she leaned on the bannister.
Sharpe then bumped Jacob's shoulder, the male raising an eyebrow at her as she nodded in approval, proud. Jacob smiled to himself, looking up at the gears that were perched at the city's entrance, lowering the net that prevented sea beasts from entering.
The Inevitable then sailed through and into the open body of water. In a nearby classroom, a boy's eyes widened in glee as he darted towards the window, excitement oozing out of him.
"It's the Inevitable! The Inevitable's back!" He cheered, pushing the window open. "Look!"
The other children gathered around him as he pointed out the ship, the children making noises of awe as they watched the ship sail to the port.
"Look!"
"What a sight!"
"Bet she's got a belly full of bones!"
"The Inevitable!"
Excitement filled the parlour as seagulls squawked, flying towards the city. A crew member grunted as she tossed a rope noose to a sailor down below, the man hooking the rope onto a stump as the ship lowered its anchor.
The bustle of the preparation had filled everyone's minds as no one had seemed to notice a little girl darting between people's legs, and a hooded figure weaving through the crowd to catch a glimpse at the great Inevitable.
Maisie grunted, lifting herself up onto a barrel, gasping as Sarah Sharpe's voice filled the area, heard loud and clear by all.
"It's good to be home at last!" Sarah smiled. "But it will be a short stay, I'm afraid. Captain Crow will visit the King and Queen at first light. And when the ship is ready, we'll be off to kill a monster!"
Maisie smiled in determination, hopping off her barrel to near her idols, the woman speaking smiling in excitement as the people below her cheered.
"We're going after the Red Bluster," Nick added, hopping on the railing beside her. "So if this be our last visit to Three Bridges, I expect some right, proper debauchery!"
The crowd cheered once more, Nick nodding with a large smile as the people cheered louder once more. Maisie grinned trying to run ahead as the people neared the Inevitable in excitement and awe.
Sarah hopped off the railing, walking down the ramp with a proud smile, the crew following behind her one by one.
"Go on, then. Make way for the hunters!"
Sarah stepped down, the people parting as Maisie looked up in curiosity, wanting to get a closer look. She grunted, bumping into some people's legs before being knocked over.
