Maisie winced at every step, Jacob losing his balance as he continued to step back more frequently, each step he took stepping on an egg. Lilia held her arms out, yelling at Jacob to stop moving as the man struggled to follow what she said to regain his balance.
Maisie whimpered, clinging onto Jacob's head as he nearly fell over, finally regaining his balance. Unfortunately, just as he had made it out of the landmine-like surface, the eggs began to hatch, Maisie freezing out of fear as Jacob watched with widened eyes.
His head snapped to his right as he heard chirping from a cracking egg, a small yellow surface visible from within before more and more eggs began to crack and hatch in the same fashion as Lilia watched the events nervously, clutching the spear tighter.
Jacob gasped as he heard cracking from under his foot, the hunter lifting his foot as the top of the egg hatched, a smiling, yellow little beast looking up at him with a tilted head. It then opened its mouth as a loud cry erupted from it, its siblings following its examples as cries were heard from all around.
They continued to pop up from eggshells all around the duo, Lilia, adjusting the items in her grasp anxiously as she held her hand out to Jacob.
"Well, what are you waiting for?! Let's go!" Lilia hissed, shaking her hand at the man.
"Best be going," Jacob nodded, grabbing Lilia's hand as she pulled him along, running from the beasts that were eventually starting to form a wave.
They ran, Lilia releasing Jacob's hand as she pulled the sack off of her shoulder, tossing that and the spear to Jacob, the hunter trading with her as he passed her Maisie's hand.
The three ran out of the jungle as quickly as they could, jumping over a bush that separated the jungle from the beach as the yellow beasts ran after them. Unfortunately, they were no match for the yellow creatures as the beasts bumped into their feet, tripping them up as they were engulfed by the swarm of beasts.
They nuzzled themselves against the trio, Maisie, Jacob and Lilia struggling to get out from under the pile of beasts.
"Maybe they're bonded to us like geese!" Maisie yelled over to the other two.
"It's the mother goose I'm worried about!" Jacob yelled over the noise, shoving the beasts away.
"Now that you say it, where is the mother goose?" Lilia grunted, pulling a beast off of her foot as she tossed it aside, her head popping up from the mountain as she turned to her right, looking over at Jacob.
She then followed his line of sight, hearing the crunching of trees as they swayed, birds flying from them as something large neared them. Maisie gasped as the other two's eyes widened, Jacob, looking over to Lilia with a frown.
"Speak of the devil," Jacob deadpanned, Lilia, smiling nervously.
A gigantic, walrus-like beast appeared from the jungle, roaring as her children dispersed from Jacob, Maisie's and Lilia's side. Jacob grabbed Lilia's hand, the princess glancing at him in confusion.
