*Addi's POV*

I had woken up after falling asleep sometime ago and saw the bus pulling into Forks, Washington. I looked out the window, taking in the lush greenery and the cool, damp air that seemed to wrap around me like a comforting blanket as it reminded me so much of the Oregon weather that I find it so refreshing and relaxing. The town was small and quaint, a stark contrast to the chaos I had left behind. For the first time in a long while, I felt a flicker of hope that this town was my new safe haven.

"Folks, we'll be pulling in for a pit stop. We'll be back on the road in thirty minutes." The bus driver announced over the intercom, as he pulled into a parking lot near a small market. Once it had came to a complete stop, the remaining passengers grabbed some of their belongings and stepped off the bus. I was the last one onboard as I gathered up all my stuff and got off the bus, taking a deep breath of the moist air surrounding me before I headed inside the market with my belongings. I wandered around the market for a short time until I made my way up to a Grab-N-Go shelf to grab a bottle of water, a banana, and a chocolate muffin.

"This isn't what I ordered. I wanted a nonfat latte." I heard a woman complaining from a cafe. I headed over there, not just to curiously see what was happening, but to also get a latte as the rich aroma of freshly brewed coffee had captured my attention. "Ma'am, I guarantee you that it is nonfat." The teenage barista girl with light brown hair named 'Samantha' on her name tag told her. "Yeah. I made it myself." The other teenage girl with dark brown hair and white glasses named 'Nancy' on her name tag stepped in. "And I guarantee that I can taste the fat in this latte. This is the worst cafe I've ever been to." The woman responded and stormed out. In her haste, she didn't notice the twenty dollar bill slip from her pocket and flutter to the floor.

Without hesitation, I stepped forward and picked it up. Instead of keeping it for myself, I decided to do something else with it. "Here's some karma for that customer." I said, as I placed the bill inside the tip jar.
Both girls exchanged surprised looks before they burst into laughter. "Thank you so much! That's really kind of you!" Samantha said, her eyes bright with appreciation. Nancy nodded in agreement and said, "Seriously, thank you! It's so refreshing to see someone stand up for kindness in a place like this." I smiled, feeling a warmth spread through me. "It's just a little thing. Everyone has their bad days; it's nice to remind them that kindness still exists." "Absolutely." Nancy replied, with a bright smile.

"What can we get for you?" Samantha asked. "I'll take a grande hazelnut latte with oat-milk." I placed my order. "I'll get that ready for you." Nancy said, as she was preparing my order. "Is there anything else that you have to purchase?" Samantha asked. I placed the water bottle, banana, and the chocolate muffin on the counter to show her what else I had.

"Um, how much do I owe you?" I asked, as I was preparing to get my wallet out of my backpack. "Oh, don't worry about it. It's on the house for your generosity!" Samantha answered. "We appreciate the kindness around here." Nancy added. I felt a rush of gratitude. I've only been in this little town for not even a half hour and I was already being greeted by a couple of teenage girls. "Really? Thank you so much! That's incredibly generous of you both." I responded.

Once my latte was ready, Nancy handed it to me, while I was savoring the rich aroma of the hazelnut flavor, before I gathered all my stuff, thanked them again, and left. I went back outside and found a bench that was outside the market. I set my duffel bag and suitcase on the side of the bench, while I kept my backpack close to my side. As I was settling down, I took a moment to enjoy my latte, feeling the warmth of the cup seep into my hands. The sound of laughter and chatter from the market behind me and those who were walking by had created a comforting atmosphere as I gazed out at the small town.
