Davina Pov:-
Frustration echoed in the room as I struggled with the oversized earring, muttering a frustrated "Ahh, fuck" after it slipped from my grasp for the third time.
Tonight was the birthday celebration of Dad's friend, Aldo Diamond. Determined to look my best, I attempted to open my bedroom door, but the gown proved challenging. Irritated, I rolled my eyes and clenched my hands around the fabric.
Descending the stairs, my vision was hindered by stray hairs, and the heavy gown made the journey cumbersome. As I muttered curses, a distant conversation caught my attention. With a sigh, I announced, "I'm here."
Approaching the whispers, I considered eavesdropping but quickly dismissed the idea, not wanting to stoop to their level. As I drew closer, the voices of Andrea and Gabriela became clear.
Gabriela's words made me pause. "She is a street bitch that your father picked," she remarked, and I realized they were talking about me.
Andrea, adopting a babyish tone, exaggerated, "But, Mom, I'm scared she might look more beautiful than me at the party."
I scoffed, "You spoiled brat!"
Gabriela, redirecting the conversation, reassured, "Don't worry, Andrea. She won't look more beautiful than you. Quickly do your makeup and come down; we're getting late. Or did you forget we have to go to their house first?"
Curiosity piqued, Andrea questioned, "Their house? Mom, why not directly to the party?"
Gabriela shrugged and explained, "Your dad said, darling, he wants to first go meet his best buddy, and then we'll go with him from there to the party."
Andrea hummed in response, leaving me intrigued about this detour to "their house."
As they headed towards the door, I seized the opportunity to retort, "Well, well, well, what a lovely conversation I just overheard. I didn't know my presence was the highlight of your day, Gabriela."
They turned to face me, shock and discomfort etched on their faces. Gabriela stammered, "Davina, we were just—"
I cut her off with a smirk, "Don't worry; I'm used to it. Being the 'street bitch,' you know. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a party to attend." With a twirl of my gown, I headed for the door, leaving them flustered.
As I walked away, I couldn't help but relish the satisfaction of putting them on the spot. Tonight, I was determined to rise above their petty schemes and make a statement at Dario's birthday celebration.
When I arrived, I took a deep breath, trying to compose myself. Just as I started to relax, Gerardo's voice called out, "Davina, baby." He descended the stairs in a dark blue suit, his hair bouncing with each step. A warm smile adorned his face as he approached.
