"Chapter 7; Hospital Visit"

Mikes Pov

"Hey Max, it's Lucas. I brought Will, Mike, Dustin and Steve with me." Lucas softly said while sitting down and grabbing her hand.

We all walked in but there were only three chairs so Will and I stood while the others sat down. She looked so lifeless and drained.

"I don't know if you can hear me Max but we have some news. Vecna is still here sadly but he's weaker. We have new hope since we found out Will's connection to Vecna and the upside down gave him powers like El." Lucas softly rubbed Maxs hand while talking.

"Wait hold up what. Since when did Will have powers like El? Was that why a napkin flew directly at my face for no reason earlier?" Steve asked.

"Ya it was really funny. Vecna told Will when he was trying to convince Will to join him." I laughed.

Steve looked annoyed but impressed. It was pretty cool that Will had powers even if he couldn't use them that well. When we first found El when Will was missing she couldn't use her powers too well either so we just need time for Will to get good at using his powers. I'm sure that once he gets a handle on them like El did, everything will be fine.

I watched as Lucas looked at the monitor which held a steady beep, but I then looked away from Lucas, and towards Will again. He looked back and we made eye contact, but neither of us dared to break it.

"So let me get this straight from what I know. Max is in a coma and probably will be paralyzed, El lost her powers, Will gained powers and is targeting him, and Eddie is de-" Steve started, but was quickly cut off.

"Please don't talk about Eddie right now." Dustin spoke, looking at Steve. He nodded, before placing a hand on Dustin's shoulder.

"How are you and Suzie?" He asked, and Dustin shrugged.

"The last time I talked to her had to be around the time when the mind flayer was chasing after us and she gave me planck's constant." Steve Pat his shoulder before putting his hand in his lap.

"We saw Suzie not too long ago. We used it to find project nina to get El." Dustin quickly turned to look at me, his face seemingly surprised.

"You went to see Suzie without me?!" Dustin retorted, and I fully looked at him.

"We didn't know where you were." I said with a shrug, and after my words the room went blank with silence again. The only noise you could hear was the rythmatic tap of Lucas' foot and the beep of Max's heart monitor.

"I wonder what El is doing." I said, and I turned to look at Will. He had quickly turned his head when I looked at him, and I looked down at my feet again.

Damn-it, I shouldn't have said anything. I know will doesn't like when I talk about El. But it was hard not to be worried for her, she was my friend- or girlfriend or whatever, but she still had people hunting for her to kill her. I don't get why they think she is dangerous, she wouldn't hurt a fly unless she had too! They should be protecting her, she's at such a risk. My thoughts were cut short when I heard a cough. It wasn't familiar. I looked around, and noticed the others perked up. Lucas looked at Max.

"Max?! Max!" He said, looking at the ginger before him.

Unfortunately, to his dismay, she didn't budge or even open her eyes. He turned to look at the doorway, and as did I, and I saw the nurse standing there. She was the one that coughed, to get their attention.

"We have to cut your visit short, there's somebody looking for you guys. She requests to see you out of the room, and plus I think it's time Maxine had some silence. Let's go." She looked at the five kids sitting in the room.

"She doesn't like being called Maxine, just max." Lucas corrected her, and the nurse sighed.

"I don't care kid, just get out." Steve was the first to stand and walk out, Will shortly after, followed by Dustin, and then me. I pushed past Lucas to not have to leave last. We eventually arrived at the front desk where Robin stood, and by the time I could see them she was embraced in a hug by Steve.

"Hey doofus, you got your kids with you?" She laughed, and Steve just scoffed in response.

"Hey, guys." Robin's word was met with a few Hello's in response.

"So what brings you here?" Steve questioned, and Robin's smile slowly faded from her face as she looked Steve in the eye.

"I'm here to tell you about.. Eddie's funeral. It's at 10PM tonight, a few kilometers left of the kissing rock. You'll see it. We're keeping it shushed and private though, we don't want people like Jason showing up." She explained, trying to avoid the sadness expressed on Dustin's face.

"So who else is showing up?" I asked, and she tore her gaze away from Dustin.

"You guys, his uncle, and Erica. We also invited most of the party members from the hellfire club." Nodding at each name, I made a mental note of who was going so I couldn't forget. "You guys better go get ready now, it starts in not too long. 4 hours."

"I'll drive Mike, Will, Dustin, and Lucas home. They all live near my house anyway; and I don't want them walking with the open gates around.." Steve looked at all the kids, before walking towards the doors of the hospital and waving for the others to come after him. I followed first as we stepped out onto the cement of the parking lot in the hospital, and again walked down to Steve's car and got in.

"I don't have any other clothes, all my clothes are in California." Will said looking down guilty as if it was his fault he didn't have funeral clothes.

"You can borrow some of mine, it should fit." I told him without even thinking.

His frown turned into a smile before he spoke again.

"Ok! Thanks Mike." He blushed slightly but turned away thinking I didn't notice. The thought of Will's face flushed with pink made butterflies erupt in my stomach.

"Ok so I will drop you both off at Mikes then?" Steve asked, earning a nod from both Will and I.
