"Are you kidding?" She asks behind me as I brush my teeth.
"I'm being 100% serious, you have no idea how my reaction was" I spit out the toothpaste and wipe my mouth on the towel.
"I can imagine, you must have been super scared right?"
"Scared? I was furious" She turns around so I can fasten her bra without even asking me, "they dared to steal my watch"
Yes. I may be being hypocritical for telling Vicky everything that happened yesterday after I gave Harry that ultimatum, but there was no way I'd keep this to myself. She's not just a friend, she's my family.
How would I explain the fact that I missed my interview? There was no way I could make up a lie. She has a third sense that always knows when I lie. It's a gift really.
"Face of an Angel soul of a devil, isn't that a popular saying?" I shake my head with a small giggle, "But he didn't do anything?" Of everything I told her, what she found most strange, was the fact that Harry acted like he didn't care.
"No V, he tried to talk to me but it was no use, we always end up arguing"
"Did you give him a chance to speak?"
I turn my whole body towards her with furrowed brows, "Now why should I have given him a chance to speak? After all that happened he doesn't deserve it"
"Did he look like he wanted to explain himself?"
"Absolutely not, I asked him, almost begged him but he refuses to tell me" I put on a white button-down shirt with a cardigan over it and simple mom jeans.
"Maybe it's more complicated than that"
"What do you mean?"
Victoria was about to elaborate when her phone started ringing, "We'll talk about this later, in fact it's almost time for your interview"
I managed to reschedule my interview for today. The lady was super nice and didn't even give me a hard time like I was expecting. My lie was that I'm new in town and I ended up getting lost on the way to the cafe. Bad I know, but she believed it so that's what matters.
I grab my bag and stride out the door. I'm walking there again, but this time with my senses heightened. I refuse to get robbed again.
In 20 minutes I reach the main street where, next to a laundry store, is the cafe. This one is called 'Sweet corner' and its interior shows why. Upon entering, I come face to face with the counter where an elderly lady is behind it. Around, there are simple round tables with some people sitting down, enjoying a cofre or working of their computers.
With a sudden nervousness, I walk to the counter where the lady is counting cash, "Good morning, I came for the job interview"
The woman's head lifts and her gentle eyes land on me. She smiles, "It's nice to finally meet you, dear" The woman comes out from behind the counter and to my amazement pulls me in for a hug.
I knew she sounded nice but I never thought she was an angel in person. "Josie right?"
"Yes ma'am"
