The Roman Baths

The heat in the Western Diorama was starting to get to Jedediah. Even though he had lived in the diorama his whole life as a miniature, when the museum's AC broke, the warm weather of the Western Diorama became almost unbearable. No one in the diorama was working, and all of them were staying in the shade. Everyone was fanning themselves with their hats or fans, and they were just waiting for the Romans in the Roman Diorama to stop training, so both dioramas could use the Roman baths. Finally a few Roman miniatures came over into the diorama and beckoned them to the Roman one. Jedediah runs up to them.

"What took you so long, Octy? We've been waiting for you forever." Jedediah asks Octavius when he reaches them.

"Jed, you do realize that we were training for less than an hour. It probably just felt longer because it is so hot over here." The roman replies.

"Larry and McPhee better figure out how to fix the old AC soon."

"If it is this hot at nighttime, I fear how hot it must be in daytime. We can only hope they do get it fixed for ours and the other exhibits sake and the people that come here in the daytime."

Everyone had finally got to the entrance of the Roman Diorama, and it already had the rest of its people cleared out, clearly in the baths already. The few Romans that came over to get the Westerners, race the Westerners to the baths. They take off their clothing and jump into the cool baths. When Octavius and Jedediah get into the bath, they stand a little away from everyone else. No one bothers them, knowing that their leaders need some time alone.

"Hey Octy?" Jedediah asks in a murmur.

"Yes Jed?" Octavius replies in the same low tone.

"Can you wash my hair? I know I can do it, and I normally do, I just kinda want you to do it."

"Of course, amica mea."

Octavius takes a bucket that is laying near the side of the bath and fills it with water. He gently pours the water onto Jed's hair. He then sets the bucket down and grabs a hairbrush. He slowly and gently runs the brush through the cowboys long hair, getting all of the knots and tangles out of the hair. Once he is done, he places the brush down and kisses Jedediah's forehead. Jedediah smiles, and grabs Octavius' hand and the two of them move closer to the rest of the Roman and Western miniatures. The group welcomes them and they all continue to talk.

When a little later in the night, they all hear the AC turn on, a huge cheer is heard from the Roman baths. The miniatures that are in the baths get out and get dressed, wanting to do things around the museum now that it isn't unbearably hot. The two leaders of the diorama exit the diorama holding hands and head to their car to play fetch with Rexy.
