"Hey! I saw that! Keep your eyes open."
I prop my phone up with my water bottle on my desk. Thor made sure to FaceTime me to assure I was staying awake. I had approximately four solid hours left before I could get some shuteye.
Sleeping before then was a recipe for a late premonition. If I fall asleep before midnight, I'm gonna dream about someone's death and this time I won't have three days to save their life—I'll have 48 hours.
"They're open!"
I glance at the clock on my nightstand and internally groan.
"What colors do you think suit me?" I ask, scanning my bland closet for something to wear to Phoenix's.
"I like it when you wear black. It makes your eyes pop."
"You liking it on me and it actually suiting me are two different things, T."
"Black does suit you! It contrasts your hair."
I get up and sift through my closet and find a black low-neck short sleeve top.
Holding it up to the camera, I grin. "This could do, right?"
"You'd have to put it on—I'm a visual person." Thor smirks and I roll my eyes.
I flip my phone down on its screen so he wouldn't see anything.
"Hey! It's dark!"
"Give me a sec!" I changed into the black top I picked out and looked in my mirror. God, it felt like a second skin.
It hugged my torso and chest tightly and was surprisingly breathable.
I place my phone back to its original position.
Thor's eyes widen a fraction and he clears his throat.
"You look...decent."
"Just decent?"
He gestures to the chest area. "There's a lot of boobage going on."
I analyze my chest and pull my low neck up a bit.
"Modest enough for you, Saint Thoreau?"
"What're you getting all dolled up for anyway?"
Shit. I never told him.
"Oh, uh, I got invited to Phoenix's birthday party."
If his eyes widened a fraction more, they'd pop out of his sockets.
"Oh! And you're going?"
There's a hint of something in his voice. Concern? Discontent?
"Yeah. It's a long story but I'll catch you up later."
"Phoenix's parties are usually very exclusive—he's extremely selective with invites."
"I'm aware."
"Since when did you start talking to him?"
Ah. There it is.
"Oh my God," I laugh in disbelief, "you're jealous."
He seems taken aback by this.
"What? Why would I be jealous?"
"It's oozing from your pores, Thor, admit it! You're jealous!"
He rolls his eyes and shakes his head. "Whatever. Just stay safe and don't shag anyone you don't know."
"Wasn't planning on it."
