"This is your fault to begin with," you heard Patrick Halstead say.

You were waiting outside the room. Antonio had called you as soon as he heard that Jay's dad was in the hospital. You quickly went over there and were now waiting for him to get out of the room.

"Me?" Jay asked.

"Yeah. Stick me in that fire trap."

"Pop, stop talking," Will said.

"You said you liked the place," Jay said.

The conversation died down a little bit. Doctor Rhodes walked in and quickly walked back out again, not even noticing you.

"I don't need all of this," Patrick said.

"Calm down, you're getting yourself worked up." You could hear the annoyance in Jay's voice.

"What do you know? You're no doctor."

"Pop," Will mumbled.

"Forget it," Jay shrugged.

"You had no right to sell my house."

"You want to talk about this again? It was a wreck. You couldn't take care of the place," Jay raised his voice.

"You just wanted my money."

"You don't have any money, you thankless old prick."

Before you could step in, Jay walked out of the room. He immediately noticed you.

"Hey, what are you doing here?" He asked as he quickly kissed you.

"Antonio called me that your dad was in the hospital. Sounds like he is doing okay?"

Jay sighed. "It's... He's driving me crazy."

You hugged Jay. "Is he going to be okay?"

"Probably."

"Jay. Y/N..."

You let go of Jay as Will walked over to you.

"How is your dad doing?" you asked.

"He's stable." He looked at Jay. "Why don't you go in and talk to him? You know, make up?"

"Well, he started it. And thanks a lot. We agreed that we were gonna sell that place, and you just stood there. You didn't say anything."

"What is the point in arguing with him? He's old. He's sick. Just let it go."

"That's fine for you to say. You're not the bad guy here."

"Jay, come on."

"No, seriously, Will. All those times you were away, and all those times you said that you couldn't leave the hospital, who took care of dad? Me."

"I did plenty for dad. I still do. Who goes and checks on him? Keeps him on his meds?"

"Yeah, all right. Tell you what. When he gets out of here, you find him his next apartment." Jay turned around and walked away.

"I got him," you say to Will as you follow Jay outside.

Outside you find a quiet spot.

"You okay?" You ask.

Jay sighs. "He's just being stubborn. He knows we needed to sell the house, and now he's making a big fuss about it."

"Sounds like someone I know."

Jay rolls his eyes, but he pulls you closer. You wrap your arms around his torso. You stand like this for a moment.

"Do you have to get back to work?" Jay asks.
