December 4th, 1956
The holiday's were your favorite and once Natalie had left before Thanksgiving it seemed like things were going back to the way they were before Hollywood, with you and Elvis around each other practically twenty four seven. The small town of Memphis was already showing the changing holiday's with Christmas lights strung across Beale Street and on every corner and of course cooler weather. There was a bite in the air that day. You and Elvis had walked out of a movie that he was bored watching and decided to go catch up with Sam and Marion. "C'mon, y/n! It's freezin!" Elvis chuckled, his teeth chattering, grabbed your hand and hurried you down until you could see the unmistakable neon sign at Sun Records. He swiftly opened the door and you walked in but practically ran into Elvis who had stopped dead in his tracks. "What's going..." "Shh!" He hushed you, putting a hand up. You could hear several familiar voices singing in the studio. Once they were finished you peered around Elvis and spotted one familar face. Jerry Lee Lewis held a guitar and stood beside a strange man in all black and and another more unfamiliar face sat at the piano. Elvis finally cleared his throat and Sam who had been standing at the recording machine facing the three men, all turned to face you both. "Why if it isn't the one and only Elvis Presley!" Sam smiled and went to shake his hand. "And, y/n! With your camera as always! How's the Colonel treatin you?" He asked. "Very well, sir. Thank you." You smiled. "E, why don't ya go say hey." Sam offered and allowed you both in. Jerry had traveled early on with Elvis back in '55 so he recognized you immediately. "E, y/n! How yall doin?!" He asked and grabbed Elvis around the shoulders. "Good good. Just on a break for the holidays!" Elvis said happy to see his friend from the early days. "Very good. Well this here is Johnny Cash and Carl Perkins. We all kinda ran into each other here, wanting to cut records at the same time." Jerry said with a laugh. You couldn't help but smile at this unplanned reunion. "Well, hey there. I've heard you on the radio kid. Love you're style." The man wearing all black, who had been identified as Johnny Cash said in a deep, low voice, complimenting Elvis. "Thank you sir. I've heard you too. Your style is amazin." Elvis returned the compliment. Johnny smiled. "Well hey, why dontcha join in E?" Jerry offered and Elvis smiled. He could never turn down an opportunity to sing especially with other talented folks. "Oh and yall mind if my girl here takes some photos? Colonel always wants new ones." Elvis asked. They all nodded and so you went on to take some of the most iconic pictures to go down in history if the four talented singers.
You couldn't help but enjoy the foursome sing in harmony to some of tour favorite rock, gospel and country songs. It was a regular old jam session. It had been awhile since Elvis participated in anything like it and he was having the time of his life looking happier than ever. You set down your camera and went to the other end of the piano as Elvis hammered away notes, mesmerized at the blend of all the unique voices. Elvis looked up at you from the keys and proceeded to serenade you with the ballad they had all started. You feel a blush cross your face, entranced with the sound of the voices in the room. You didn't even notice that Sam had taken the opportunity to snap a picture with you in it.
