The wolf stepped out only a few feet in front of Charlie, he was half visible since the light was so dense. Charlie could see him, he could never forget the bright orange inhuman eyes that stared right at him.
A tight feeling surfaced in his chest when looking at him, the wolf looked hurt. It had no wounds on him, however his face spoke pain while looking at Charlie.
The blonde didn't know what to say, he could only look at the heartbroken wolf who was hunched down to appear smaller. He had questions traveling through his head, one for sure was "why was Lazarus here"?
Gulping in a breath, Charlie asked Lazarus in a shaky breath. "What are you doing here...?"
Lazarus's head shot up, a look of fear on his face. "I didn't hurt her! Your grandmother is fine.. But..."
Charlie's hand held onto the weapon tighter. He didn't know for sure, he couldn't believe that Lazarus would hurt anyone, but after what he saw the wolf did to the men. He wasn't too confident.
Growing confidence he moved over to the wolf and pushed past him to look at his grandmother's bed. He found Loran there sleeping, he breathed out a sigh of relief moving back and lessening his grip on his bow. He was then suddenly grabbed from behind, lifted into the air and moved over to the other side. He only let out a small yelp in surprise before being set down in front of Loran's door.
Lazarus had moved him over and to the exit of the house, he kept his hold on Charlie gently only letting go when Charlie harshly pulled away. His hands shaking he moved over and outside the house to sharply look at the guilty wolf behind him.
Being outside now, Charlie spoke loud while glaring at Lazarus. "What are you doing here Lazarus!?"
Lazarus looked down, gulping in a bit he also walked outside and closed the door behind him. Now they were both outside in front of the small cottage, they stood on the cobblestone entrance surrounded by bushes. Lazarus hadn't answered yet, he kept his head low, not even knowing how to answer.
"Answer me please!" Charlie yelled out, he felt like breaking down with the silence coming from the wolf boy. The thoughts of apologizing and everything else inside his head were completely lost. All he wanted was an answer. He wanted to know why Lazarus was there. Maybe he even wanted to know more.
Lazarus finally spoke up, looking up to meet Charlie's eyes. "You won't believe me Charlie..." He quietly whimpered, keeping eye contact with the blonde boy. Charlie could only look back at him confused. The wolf walked closer to the blonde, taking big steps to only be a few inches from him Charlie held back the tense fear to step back. He looked at the wolf confidently waiting for an answer. "You'll hate me for sure... I can't risk you hating me Charlie..."
His voice sounded hurt and fearful. Charlie was taken aback by the words looking up at the wolf. The wolf's eyes seemed red, it looked like the wolf boy would cry just at the thought. "I won't hate you."
The words seemed to relax the tense and fearful wolf. He kept his eyes on the blonde. "Do you promise...?" His voice sounded faint, almost a whisper.
Charlie could only nod to the wolf boy, he promised him, not even knowing if he was sure he wanted to know the truth. After nodding, the wolf gently grabbed the blonde boy and tugged him towards the forest. He went behind some trees on the thicker side before moving over and letting go of Charlie.
Charlie looked at him, confused. Lazarus only stepped back after letting go of the boy. Charlie seemed to have enough with the wolf's strange movements. "Answer me Lazarus! We're alone now, so just explain it to me." He took a deep breath in, now having the wolf's attention. His voice softened when looking at him. "Please.. Lazarus.. Tell me what's going on."
