After Martis had heard what his son had seen, he rushed over to Teliks for him. Fear was evident on his face, he was worried he would have gotten mauled like the three men there. Just like Ruth. His legs quickened at the thought.
Charlie was being checked on by Yaron who got there first, he was waiting for the father to burst in and take the boy away. And that is what he did. As soon as the father came in, he hugged his son.
"I didn't get harmed father.." Charlie reasoned.
Martis moved forward to look at him, himself. Charlie didn't have any lasting wounds. But what he did notice was a few bruises and a bite mark on the young boy's neck. The others in the room didn't see or notice anything wrong, Martis didn't want to say anything out loud to make everyone notice them, a fire was burning inside his chest when he thought of what could have happened.
Telik came over to give Martis the go ahead to take Charlie out. The father pulled the red cloak to cover the boy's neck, he looked at Yaron and motioned for the older man to follow him. Yaron followed without a word, leaving the medics home and headed towards Martis's.
While leaving, Xene was just coming back, he sneaked out while his father was busy so he could check on Charlie. They bumped into him on the way out. Martis pulled Charlie behind him but Xene already saw the blonde.
"Oh you got Charlie?" The brewer asked lightly, taking a step back.
Martis nodded respectfully, his eyes were lightly glaring at the boy. "Yes. He didn't have any injuries so I'm taking him home Xene."
"Huh? But.. I saw a few bruises on his neck..." Xene scratched the back of his head, his face slightly red while avoiding eye contact.
Charlie tensed from behind his father, Martis's hand tightened around the younger boy's wrist. Yaron looked at the two confused, he looked back to Charlie who avoided everyone's eyes while looking down. Martis ignored both of them, pulling the boy closer to him protectively. "Aren't you banned from seeing Charlie?"
Xene flinched back. He looked down a bit embarrassed, not saying anything.
Yaron moved so Martis could walk to their house, not giving the brewer a second glance.
When they made it back, Charlie felt like his hand would be torn off from how hard the father was holding him. Opening the door, Martis pushed the boy in, waiting for his friend to enter before closing the door again. He looked over his son with a stern look in his eyes.
Charlie suddenly felt fearful again. Why would his father be angry? Did he do something wrong again? He clutched his hand close to his heart, thinking back to how he yelled at the wolf boy. It felt wrong.
"Not even gonna tell me what happened?" Martis finally spoke up, he crossed his arms, keeping a look on the boy.
What was Charlie supposed to say? He didn't want to get into detail of what had happened, everytime he thought back to the older men touching him, his body started to shake with fear. It increased when thinking about Lazarus. The wolf tearing apart the men.
"Answer me Charlie!" Martis got impatient with the silent blonde, he yelled out, startling Yaron and the son. "Why do you have those marks on your neck!? Why are you the only one not attacked by the beast!?"
"Would you b-believe me if I told you...?" Charlie didn't even realize he opened his mouth until the words came out. His hands became tight with how hard he held onto them. His face became pale and his eyes turning hot, he knew his father wouldn't believe him.
"Just tell me boy."
Charlie didn't want to lie again. He didn't want to talk about it or remember it. But he knew he would be punished for lying again. Sucking in a bit of bravery, Charlie used his voice to recall the events, his eyesight became blurry as tears spilled from his face when recalling everything.
