Flashback/Dream of Song Jing-Mi

"When you fall in love...it will happen when you least expect it and when you're not looking for it. You'll fall in love gradually...and then it hits you...all at once." your grandmother's voice sweetly says.

"But grandma, what if I don't fall in love?" your ten-year-old self asked as you looked at your grandmother, sitting next to you on your bed.

"You will, dear, just give it time. You're only ten, you've got your whole life ahead of you." your grandmother replied as she lovingly stroked your hair.

           "Well...true..." you replied, feeling impatient.

"Here, let me go get something that your grandpa gave me the night that we went on our first date." Your grandma said with a twinkle in her eyes. Your eyes immediately lit up, as you already had a hunch on what it was.

"Is it--" you said excitedly. Your grandma then stopped you by giving you a kiss on your forehead. Then she slowly got up off of your bed and headed down the hallway and into her bedroom.

You started to fidget on your bed and you could feel your excitement building. You were hoping that it would be the necklace your grandpa had bought your grandma the night they went out on their first date.

You then started to recount the story in your young mind; one that you had heard countless times.

*Now we're going to a quick flashback about Song Jing-Mi's grandmother and grandfather's first date*

Your grandma was out with a few of her girl friends, and they were planning to meet up with their boyfriends at a restaurant. However, your grandma's would-be date that night, never showed up.

Sad and heartbroken, your grandma left the restaurant and waited for the rest of them outside. As she sat on a bench, crying her heart out. She buried her face in her hands and started to sob. Then, all of a sudden, a man sat down on the bench and offered her a handkerchief. Surprised, she took it and wiped away her tears.

"A beautiful woman like you should never cry such tears of sadness." the man said to her softly. Your grandma looked at him, her heart still feeling heavy in her chest.

"Um...thank you," your grandma sniffled. She then wiped the tip of her nose and then handed the man the handkerchief back. Your grandfather took the handkerchief back and folded it back up, putting it back into his pants pocket. Your grandma avoided his gaze at first, slightly embarrassed.

"Now...exactly who has made such a beautiful woman like you cry like that?" he asked. Your grandma then wiped the last few tears away that were trickling down her cheeks.

"I...I got stood up. My date never showed. I really thought we had something going. But...I was so wrong." Your grandmother responded.

Your grandfather then firmly rested his hand on your grandmother's, then gradually intertwined his fingers with hers.

"For what it's worth, I would never stand a woman up. If he's got the audacity to stand you up like this and break your heart like this, it's his loss, not yours." Your grandfather said warmly.

Your grandmother then looked up at your grandfather and their eyes locked immediately. As your grandmother started to get a better look at the man sitting next to her, she felt as if he looked familiar.

"Do I know you from somewhere?" your grandma asked. "You remind me of someone...I can't think of who you--"

"Kwon Hye-Ri, you still haven't recognized me, have you?" your grandfather asked, a slight chuckle escaping his lips. His lips then formed into a smile, causing your grandmother's heart to flutter a little bit--easing the sadness from moments earlier. Your grandmother pulled her hand away from him and covered her mouth, her eyes widening with shock.
