Trigger warning: mentions death
Xion POV
I woke up, Keonhee not there anymore. I got out of bed and floated through walls. I looked around for Keonhee and Dal, but Dal wasn't here, and Keonhee was walking around on the ceiling.
"Hey, you feeling better?" I asked.
"Yeah," he nodded. "A bit."
"Where's Dal?" I ask.
"She went to work," Hwanwoong said becoming visible, floating around.
"Oh," I said. I was hoping to be able to see her before she went. I sighed, slightly frowning.
"Now that we're all here," Seoho said from the kitchen, "there's something you and Keonhee need to know."
Keonhee gets off the ceiling and onto the ground. "Must be serious."
"It is," Leedo said, coming back inside from the balcony. "We think Dalbit is dying."
"W-what?! N-no!" I got scared. "How do you know?"
"Leedo and I were able to feel Dalbit," Seoho says.
"Last night Dalbit was about to take pain meds," Keonhee mentioned.
"Yep, she looked like she was in pain last night too," Seoho added. "We gotta keep an eye on her. There's something she's probably not telling us."
"Or at least not ready to tell us," Leedo said worried. "But I hope she doesn't get worse; I don't want her to end up being stuck here too."
"Yeah, I agree," Hwanwoong said. "I don't want her to be like us."
"Maybe we should find a way for her to leave," I said. "Maybe that why, she'll be safer." I don't want her to go yet.
Dalbit POV
I was at work, and once I had my break, I started looking at my phone, doing research on the apartment, I looked up their names. With their death in order.
Yeo Hwanwoong and his friends were highschool trouble makers and came in when the building had just finished being built. After sneaking into the building, he and his friends played games and the loser had to put something into the socket. After Hwanwoong had stuck the butter knife into the socket and died from electrocution, the owners postponed the grand opening, but did their best to hide the truth. Shortly after the opening, people found out and started learning about the truth and started leaving. Already giving the new apartment a bad reputation.
Kim Gunhak had heard of the incident, but he and his family continued to live there due to lack of money and funds. But he did tell his family sightings of a ghost who seem to look like Yeo Hwanwoong. One night, while discussing it with his family, Gunhak choked on his dinner; his family didn't know how to do the heimlich procedure, being unable to save or stop him choking. They knew if they tried to call for help, he would be dead already. Soon, and helplessly, Gunhak passed away. All his family could do, was watch.
Maybe that's Leedo's real name. Maybe I can help. I thought to myself, and continued to scroll down.
Lee Keonhee was a young man who suffered hardship. After his father passed away, his mother demanded unreachable expectations and continuously said harsh words to him. Unable to keep going with the pressures of his mother and friends, Keonhee took his life by overdosing in the bathtub. His mother was soon arrested for abuse, neglect, and child endangerment. Now, people did their best to stay away from the apartment building, rumors of it being haunted, saying it brought the worse out of people. The rent dropped even lower, the landlord desperate to make ends meet.
I bit my bottom lip, trying not to fall apart during work. I wish I could comfort him.
Lee Seoho lived here with his family, the apartment being the only affordable place. The family hoping not being able to stay long, an to not become a victim of death there. People who lived there never stayed long, only if they were desperate, or needed a temporary place to stay. One day, he and his older sister got into a play fight, which led to her accidentally suffocating him with a pillow after hitting him with it.
To me, hearing the story like this, made it more heart breaking then funny the way Seoho explained it...
Son Dongju, the most recent death to occur in the apartments, was a young man who was ready to start his adulthood, not wanting to be able to rely on his family and friends too much. One day, Dongju was found dead in his apartment, stabbed to death. His murderer is still unknown.
My eyes saddened, Xion had so much to live for. They all did. Maybe they're all still suffering, in sorrow.
I wanted to free them, let them move on.
