"Only fools fall for you, only fools fall
Only fools do what I do, only fools fall
Only fools fall for you, only fools fall
Only fools do what I do, only fools fall"

Jeongguk's balls were probably frozen. He kept wiggling and shimmying to generate some body heat but none of it was working.

It was not the best idea to be waiting on the terrace at the end of December for a whole hour just to surprise his bandmate for his birthday.

He was cursing and writhing, checking the time every 10 mins waiting for the clock to strike twelve. He had asked Hoseok to wake Taehyung up and send him on the terrace at twelve.

Wait, what if Hoseok hyung is asleep too?

His phone pinged.

Hobi hyung: He is going upstairs.

Jeongguk quickly lit the candle and picked up the cake in his hand. He wanted to make a grand gesture for his hyung to make him forgive him.

At this point he was ready to get down on his knees.

And beg.

Obviously.

Get your head outta the gutter.

The streamers and the happy birthday banner ruffled in the icy breeze and Jeongguk was pretty sure his nose was not attached to his face anymore.

The terrace door creaked open and Jeongguk gripped the box in nervousness. Taehyung slowly peeked outside when Jeongguk started softly singing with a muffled voice against his scarf.

Taehyung was surprised, to say the least. Jeongguk saw his eyes widen before he lowered his gaze and shyly walked to the maknae with his hands behind his back, a smile adorning his face.

"Ah Jeongguka, what is all this-"

"Happy Birthday, Taehyungie hyung."

"Thank you," Taehyung smiled, crimson covering his cheeks, looking at the cake. The pink scarf around his neck made his face look extra round like a fresh soft steaming bun.

Taehyung clasped his hands together and closed his eyes for a wish and Jeongguk asked his own.

Please, don't ever leave me.

Taehyung opened his eyes and blew the candles out gently. Jeongguk fed him a small strawberry and putting the cake back in the box.

Jeongguk stepped back and led him to the blankets he had laid down on the ground. He crossed his legs and sat down, patting the empty space beside him.

The elder gingerly settled down while the maknae put another blanket over him. He cracked open a bottle of soju,  pouring it into their glasses. "I got the grape flavoured one for you, you said you liked it the best."

"You remembered?" Taehyung grinned.

"Of course, hyung." Jeongguk handed a glass over to him.

"To Taehyungie hyungie," he toasted as they clinked their glasses and downed it one go. The alcohol warmed his insides.

They sat in silence until Jeongguk got jittery.

"Hyung, I-" Jeongguk stammered, fidgeting the bottle cap in between his fingers. "I wanted to apologise. I know you didn't steal my dumplings and I didn't mean to be so rude I was just so frustrated and angry and tried to be petty and I just couldn't think straight I-"
