At first, the climb is not that bad, but after about twenty minutes it starts to get pretty steep. Once I get about halfway up it starts to get freezing cold, and after about another hour or two I get close to the peak where there is snow on the ground everywhere I look. I finally reach the top of the mountain where the Temple of Self-Reflection is. I head to the entrance of the place, there are gigantic metal doors. Who’s idea was it to put that? I push as hard as I can to get them open. At first, they won’t budge, I get all frustrated.
Me) Why send me up here when the stupid place is frozen shut! It is freezing, dark and I am exhausted!I curl my hand into a fist and go to punch the door to vent my rage. When my fist collides with the frozen metal doors they swing open as if they were as light as paper.
Me) Whoa!
I walk into the halls of the temple, I look around and even peek behind the massive doors, and see mirrors on every surface except the floor, even on the backs of the giant doors are mirrors. What did I expect from a place called the Temple of Self-Reflection? No matter where I look I see a reflection of me, but with the crummy lightning in here it is more like a reflection of my shadow. I continue ahead into a dome-shaped room that is straight ahead of the entrance. It seems like the main room in this place besides the halls.
There are multiple layered platforms in the middle of the room. I head up the layers until I am up on the middlemost platform which is about 20 feet off of ground level. Once I get to the very top of this pillar of platforms the main entrance doors slam shut and every single light in the temple blows out and I feel a strong gust of wind. I am nearly blown down.
I look around everywhere but see nothing but pitch black. I look straight ahead at the wall opposite the stairs that took me up the platforms, it looks as though there is a speck roughly in the shape of a person with a faint glow around it. I look around again and see nothing but darkness. I turn back towards where the person is and they are about the size of me, and it looks as though they are walking in my direction.
This “Person” continues to move closer until they are the size of roughly the pillar of platforms. What seems like their head is right at where I am at, so about twenty feet off of the ground. The figure stops moving. I just stand there staring at it, what in the world is this thing?
???) I am you…
Me) What? Who said that reveal yourself!
Right in front of me, the figure’s eyes open up. I jumped back. They are the same color as mine. Besides the glow which silhouettes the figure, there is nothing that shows any of the details of what or who this figure is. I look down at the floor and begin to think, overall it looks pretty similar to me, but it can’t be. Mirrors need light in order to reflect an object.
Figure) Well, these are not your everyday mirrors, and we are certainly not ordinary people.
I look up and see them floating or sitting or something. I can see anything in this darkness.
Figure) With how easily startled we are, and how foolish we are most of the time, we really seem calm and rational in this situation. I got to say, very few people experience things like this in their lifetime, and even fewer experience something which we are right now.
Me) Why are you saying we? I am not you, and will never be you. You look and seem like a monster or something of the sort.
Figure) But that IS exactly what we are! We are one, and we are one of a species that should not have existed, yet does, and continues to grow. You can simply call me əƜ
Me) Em? Like me backward? Also, you did not even answer my question, what are you.
əƜ) Yeah, it is also spelled upside down and the M is capital and not the e.
