Assuming Eddie had skipped school, or was just taking a break from the day, you decided to leave early and get a headstart of job hunting. Would your father scold you. Yes. Would you get in trouble for missing your classes? Probably. Did you really care? No.

So off you went.

First you went to the record store, secretly hoping you'd also get a discount on new releases (or something of the sort) But he just said he didn't need the help. After all, it wasn't really a big store, and wasn't booming with business or swarming with customers, so your work wasn't needed.

Alright, plan B.

Snatching a newspaper from a relatively empty trash can outside a drug store, you saw that the Family Video store was hiring. Good enough.

Securing your bag on your shoulder you began your trek to the video store, hoping they still had the position open. Before you entered, you ran a hand through your (kinda) messy hair and pushed the door open, walking up to the counter where a brunette boy with big hair and brown eyes. He was good looking, but not really your type.

Glancing down at his uniform, you saw that his name was Steve. You strode in and leaned against the counter, meeting his eyes when he looked away from his clipboard.

"Welcome to Family Video, how can I help you?" He greeted, sounding rather bored. You smiled slightly, tapping your fingers on the glass out of nervousness. You've had a job before. Several, actually. But it was always nerve-racking to start out. And talk to people. Yeah, now that you thought about it, you weren't really one to socialize.

"Hey, I'm Y/n L/n. I was wondering if you're still looking for employees?" You asked hopefully. He raised an eyebrow (You assume from surprise) and held up his index finger.

"One sec." He went through the back door for 'Employees Only', leaving you alone in the front of the video store. Looking around, you saw many shelves of different VHS tapes and genres and glowing signs. There was a TV above the counter, playing a random movie, a few computers around the counter, cutout cardboard people, and racks of snacks and candies around the store.

A few minutes later he came back with another man, also with brown hair, but he didn't look so good. He had a mullet (That didn't really suit him) and a rather long face. His tag read 'Keith'. Must be the manager. He leaned against the counter just in front of you, faces less than a foot apart.

"Top three favorite movies. Go." He pointed at you. You hummed in thought, but he snapped at you to go faster. Rude.

"Okay, um, The shining," You listed off your hand. "Ghostbusters...." You tapped your foot against the ground, struggling to come up with a third. "Oh! Nightmare on Elm street!" You beamed. He squinted his eyes, looking you over with a critical gaze. You didn't like it, but you held your ground.

"You start tomorrow." He finally said, turning around and going back from which he came. Steve's mouth was agape, as he looked between you, and the closed door his boss just went through multiple times. Eventually he sighed and turned back to you with a tired smile, holding out his hand.

"I'm Steve." He said. You nodded and took his hand, shaking it.

"I know.

"How-" He followed your gaze and saw his bright yellow tag wielding his name. "Oh."

You smirked and pulled back, stuffing your hands in your pockets out of habit. "Well, you already know who I am. So," You waved and turned around. "I'll see you tomorrow!" You called over your shoulder. He waved back before going back to work, skimming over a paper for some information unknown to you.

You roamed the town for the few remaining hours before school was out, looking at a few clothing shops that might interest you when you had enough money, convenience stores for emergencies, and grocery stores for when your dad got his paycheck. On your journey you also found some cool hideouts for if you ever got in trouble with, let's say...the law? Or someone at school? I mean, you never know, right?

When you saw kids starting their way home, whether that was walking in groups, driving with friends or stopping by shops before doing whatever it is they do, you decided to go home and see if your dad was home, and is he was, tell him the big(ish) news.

Wanting to feel the wind in your hair, you sat by a nearby bench and switched your sneakers for roller blades and skate home, rushing through the crowding streets of Hawkins. You almost got hit by a car (Or two) and just barely avoided running into someone who was too preoccupied with whatever they were reading in their magazine. Other than that, the trip went smoothly.

You got home and locked the door behind you, rolled to the kitchen and set your bag down. You half expected to see your dad sitting at the counter with his arms crossed, wearing that expression. Y'know, the one where they look like someone just pissed in their coffee? Yeah, that one. But instead was a yellow sticky note on top of a five dollar bill.

'I'll be home late tonight, here's some money for pizza. The address is on the fridge.

Love you, Dad'

You smiled slightly at the note before sighing and kicking off your skates. Ignoring your homework (Once again) you went to your room and listened to some of your new music you had bought yesterday with Eddie. As you jammed out to Rainbow in the Dark by Dio, you couldn't help but let your mind wander to the brunette metalhead. There was a pit forming in your stomach as you did so, but brushed it off as hunger. So to fix this problem, you went downstairs and ordered a large (f/p) and waited in the living room. You convinced yourself that you were just being paranoid.

Eddie was fine.
