The group had left to get more information and find some clues to, y'know clear Eddie's name. But you ended up staying behind, knowing your dad was probably working late again tonight.

The shed was filled with a deafening silence, but neither of you made a move to speak, the revelation of a whole other world making your minds spin.

"You missed the DnD campaign." Eddie spoke out of the blue, glancing at you from the wall opposite you.

You groaned and threw your head back. "Fuck. I completely forgot!" You apologized. This drew a teasing chuckle from the boy. "What'd I miss?" You asked, eager to know how the campaign went even if you weren't there. He only shrugged.

"Looks like you'll have to come to the next one to find out." He smirked. You rolled your eyes, but felt the small smile meet your lips.

"Fine." You sighed dramatically, crossing your arms. Another silence took hold of the room, but this one was more comfortable. Again, his brown eyes met your e/c ones, a question swimming in his mind. After you raised your eyebrows in question, he asked it.

"What made you move here?"

You froze, breath hitched. But you quickly relaxed, trying to find the best way to explain it. It shouldn't be such a hard question to answer should it?

Oh, my dad got a job. Lie.

My parents are divorced, we switch every half a year since we live so far apart. Lie.

My mom went to jail. Lie.

I wanted to come here. Lie.

I got expelled. Eh.

"My mom died." Truth.

His eyes widened, small smile turning into a frown as he processed your words.

"Oh shit! Uh, sorry I didn't mean to-"

"No, it's fine." You waved him off, crossing your arms over your knees close to your chest. "I just..." You stared at the floor, looking almost confused. "I needed to get away. And now here I am." You smiled falsely.

HIs deep brown eyes looked at you with concern, so instead you focused on how his chocolate curls frizzed up and bounced as he moved his head. He had more questions, you could tell.

"She died to a bullet in the head. They say it was suicide." You explained quietly, debating on whether or not you should mention your siblings. "I found her in her room."

"Oh my God." He gasped, leaning forward as if to jump up and comfort you. You weren't sure if you'd mind it. "That's awful." You only shrugged.

"My mom left when I was a kid," He stated, once again breaking the tense quiet that you had become used to, and shifted awkwardly in his place. "And my dad is in prison. It's just been me and my uncle." He told you, doing his best to keep eye contact. Your eyebrows shot to your hairline, and you looked at him with curiosity and sadness.

"That...explains a lot." You answered quietly, though you didn't say it negatively. Fiddling with some of the many bracelets adorning your wrists, you tapped the toe of your shoe against the concrete beneath you nervously. "Look at us, bonding over trauma." You suddenly cracked a wobbly grin, swinging your arm with sarcastic joy.
