My name's Oliver Kingston and I'm a 18 year old senior in high school. I live in the "Bible Belt" of America. In specifics, the northern part of Texas. It's not easy for me to listen to those teachings because... Well.. I like boys. None of my family members or even the closest of my friends know. Just because I'm homosexual doesn't mean I act like it. I don't wear skirts or pink T-shirts or talk about boys and make-up. I don't speak or act flamboyantly. I blend in with the rest of the crowd. And because I'm still human, I go to school just like everyone else. I signed up, tried out, and passed and now I'm a baseball player on a team at school. I had a couple friends on the team with me, Riley and Hunter, and another friend who's in most of my classes, Lilith, my only female friend who I call Lily for short. I'd think I'd lose my mind if I lost them over my dirty little secret. Lily was a brunette with medium length hair and brown eyes and adorable freckles. She had a small nose and small, plump lips. Needless to say, every guy wanted her and every girl hated her. Every guy hated Riley, Hunter, and I because we were her only male friends. Hunter, was a blondie with shaggy hair and green-blue eyes. He causes the opposite effect that Lily does - Guys hated him, girls love him. Girls hated Lily for being one of his few female friends. Riley and I were just... there.
I first found out about my own little "predicament" when I was younger. 7th grade. I fell in love with this guy at first glance. At first, I tried to force myself to think, "You're just admiring his looks, wishing you looked like that yourself," but it just wouldn't work. I kept thinking about his lips and how soft they'd feel against mine. I couldn't really tell him that I had a crush on him. One, he had a girlfriend that I hated for no other reason than jealousy. Two, I lived in this religious area for my whole life. Needless, to say I grew out of that crush, going undetected.
But for a religion that teaches that we should love each other
Our town pastor preaches a lot of hate.
