I went back to the restaurant with my hands in my pocket and head down. Everyone was silent at first, but gradually started talking to Lily and each other. I was sitting back, looking at people go past. My parents, Riley, and Hunter wouldn't even talk to me. I guess they're mad at me. Riley pulled Hunter over to my parents and said something, but I couldn't make out what. They said something in return and the boys smiled and made there way over to me and sat in the chairs beside me.
"Guess who's coming over my place," Riley said.
"You asked my parents if I could spend the night your place without asking me if I wanted to, first." I stated.
"Well, you could stay home and get nagged by your dad.. or you can come with us and we won't talk about it."
They were right. My dad really wants me to have a girlfriend and Lily is the most popular girl in the school. She wanted me and I turned her down. My dad would have yelled at me as soon as we've got home. I sighed, "You guys are great. Thanks."
Riley nodded in acknowledgment of my gratitude, "Oh hey, we should invite Evan."
Riley and Hunter were great friends with him so I see why they would want him to come, but he and I... not so much. We're not feuding or anything. I just don't speak to him so I don't accidentally make a fool of myself. I wanted so desperately so scream "no!" but then they'd ask why. I couldn't just tell them I couldn't handle a shirtless Evan. You see, Evan was one of the most handsome guys in the school. Shaggy brown hair and light brown eyes that everyone loved.. he even had perfect lips. Lips that I just couldn't resist, but had to for my sake..
"Is that cool with you, Oliver?" Hunter asked.
I panicked. Why would they ask me that? "Yeah, sure. Why wouldn't it be?" I realized I was talking sort of fast. I was getting embarrassed. The fact that I could feel my cheeks and ears getting warm made me even more embarrassed and my cheeks were getting hotter.
"Well, we know you and him don't socialize that often so I thought it might be awkward for you... You okay? You're blushing like a girl." he asked.
"N-no, I'm fine. I was just thinking about something."
Riley turned to Hunter, "Probably Lily."
Riley's statement saved my ass, so I wasn't going to deny it. "So what?" I barked.
"So you are?" Hunter teased.
"And?"
"Finally, you realized you fucked up." he said, getting up, "Let's go get her."
I grabbed his wrist and shook my head, "I was thinking about her, but that doesn't mean I want her.." I softly spoke.
He sat back down, "And why not?"
"I only see her as a friend. Nothing more-"
"Nothing less. I get it." he groaned, "That girl likes you and you don't even want her. Dick."
"We can still be friends if she wants, but that's not going to change and I'm not going to go out with her under peer pressure."
Hunter sighed and left this conversation at that, "I'm going to go invite Evan," he got up and went towards him with Riley following after. Hopefully, this blows over soon.
I went to the bathroom before it was time to go. I was the last one to go. I washed my hands and dried them, and just as I was about to go out the door, Jacob came in. I moved out his way so he can get to the stalls. Instead of just walking past me, he firmly grabbed a good chunk of my hair and pulled me back into the bathroom. Struggling with all my might, his grip wouldn't loosen. I wasn't a wimp. Not to toot my own horn, but I had nice build on my body myself that was acceptable for a high school student. I didn't look like a jock or nerd. More like those models from Hollister stores, but Jacob was stronger than me.
