Your POV:

My day started ordinary. I was walking along the school hallways with my best friend Donna, and she was talking about some boy she really liked from her science class. She was rambling on and on, and I was jealous she had met a boy who might actually like her back.

Most boys I like never like me back. It's hard being part of the LGBTQIA+ in the 1970s. People think you're some type of crazy a*s rodent. Which I'm not. That's the reason most people don't enjoy me. I'm practically a town freak.

I don't really care, it was never important to me to be popular. "Y/N, are you listening?" Donna asked me, eyes widened in confusion. "Oh yeah, sorry, what were we talking about?" I asked her, knowing damn well I obviously wasn't listening.

"Finney? My crush on Finney Blake!" she exclaimed, and I laughed. "If you're so in love with him, just talk to him?" I suggested, and she laughed. "You are bold to think I have enough confidence to talk to Finney Blake."

"Well, why not?"

"Because! He's way out of my league!"

I rolled my eyes, and she stared at me with confusion. "What? What's so funny?"

"Maybe that you're the highest f*cking league there is. I'm gay and even I know you're attractive"

She smiled at me, and said "Thank you" as if she was thanking me for her confidence boost. I looked at her "your welcome".

She was still super worried about the idea of crushing on Finney Blake, as she rambled, yet again. She was now talking about his hair, his eyes, his facial features, and his shoulders for gosh sakes.

I have never seen somebody like a boy as much as Donna Marshall likes Finney Blake. At this point it was not even a crush anymore, it was a full blown obsession. Donna Marshall was in absolute and irrevocable love with Finney Blake.

Maybe she's crazy in love. I couldn't blame her, I had been crazy in love too, before I got rejected. She listened to every ramble and every comment I made over that boy, not to her appeal. She's my best friend, my very best friend.

She's also kind of my only friend. I don't really care, it never bothered me, I don't care about their opinions if they hate me for who I kiss. We were on our way to math class with Mr. Johnson, the most boring class of the day.

Mr. Johnson sucked. He talks at lightning speed, and never seems to take a break, not even to f*cking breath. It's like air is too lower classed for somebody like him. Which wasn't exactly true.

I had to go anyway, as I don't skip class. When we did, we sat behind Finney and some other brown haired boy, which I assumed to be his best friend Robin Arellano.

I never knew Robin, I never talked to Robin, but I knew his name. Everybody knew Robin Arellano's name. He was the second toughest kid in school, after Pinball Vance Hopper.

I sat next to Donna, who was staring at the back Finney Blake's head. It was kind of sad, and she wasn't actually listening to the lesson, but whatever. I can't judge her, she's my best friend.

Once class was finally over, Donna Marshall had finally conjured up enough confidence to speak to Finney Blake. After my comments to build her confidence, to hype her up, she made her way over to Finney, as I walked by her side, she refused to do it alone.

As the two were talking, Finney's friend Robin was still standing there. The two were having their little conversation, and I noticed Robin staring at me. He gestured his hand towards me saying,

"Hi, I'm Robin Arellano"
