5 days later
"Hey guys, we're home!" Ward shouted as soon as he opened the door.
"Hey." Amelia let out shyly "How was your trip?"
"It was good." Vincent said, his head entering the house.
Amelia's eyes widened. Her heart started pounding. Rafe tumbled down the stairs as soon as he heard Vincent's voice.
"Hi Rafe." Amelia's dad let out
"Hello Mr.Peterson, good to see you." Rafe said politely
Rafe entered the kitchen where Amelia was eating her cereal. He saw she was already panicking. She was holding back her tears. He went to her and put a hand on her back, just so she could know he was here. She didn't acknowledge him.
The parents were talking to each other in the entry while taking their suitcases inside.
"Amelia look at me." Rafe demanded
She wouldn't move.
He took her chin and turned her head so she could face him. She looked at him. Tears falling down her eyes. She looked hopeless. Amelia buried her head in Rafe shirt so that her dad wouldn't see her.
"Is she okay?" Vincent asked
"Yeah we were just playing hide and seek with wheeze and she was cheating so..." Rafe said still holding on to Amelia's hair.
"Where is wheeze by the way?" Ward asked
"Hiding." Rafe rolled his eyes as if he didn't say anything earlier.
The parents left the kitchen to go look for the other children.
Amelia pulled back.
"Thank you." She mumbled "I'm gonna go in my room."
She had no emotion. It was like life got sucked out of her for a moment.
Rafe was a little bit worried.
She got up and headed to the stairs.
"Wait!" Rafe said
"What?" She asked showing her lifeless eyes again.
"Do you want me to come with you?" He questioned.
"No I'm fine." She said as she turned and left for her room.
As she was about to close her door Rafe said something
"Hey let me help."
"Fuck just don't Rafe, I want to be alone." Amelia replied
"No you don't." He said entering her room
Amelia sat on her bed, not even arguing back at him.
