Chapter 06: Enter x Pro Hunter x Gon Freecss

(A certain countryside near the Capitol, Republic of East Gorteau, NGL)

Pro Hunter Gon Freecss was running silently away from the grand palace formerly flaunted by Gorteau's tyranical leader Diego, now ruled by the Chimera Ant King. A place where he knew a battle was still being waged, and right now he didn't care. With Chairman Netero engaging battle with the King, Gon doubted there was anything more he could contribute to the battle right now, so he would focus on his own primary objective. The Chimera Ant Royal Guard Neferpitou silently bringing up the rear, Gon's single-track mind was completely consumed by one thought. Have Pitou fix Kite.

With the young woman Komugi (whom Gon now knew the King had become attached) in the care of his friends (though really as a hostage), Pitou had reluctantly agreed to go with Gon to a little town not very far from the Capitol, to the hideout where Gon's mentor and friend now lie in an unrecognisable state. To undo the damage that THEY had done to Kite during Gon and Kilua's last visit to the NGL. Damage that happened because Gon and Kilua were too slow, too powerless, too useless to be anything but a liability to him in the end.

Gon knew that the woman was important to the King and thus Pitou wouldn't risk anything that would directly bring her to harm. But he also knew that Pitou wanted him as far away from the King as possible, as with any enemy. And technically, they were still enemies. Even if he could trust Pitou would honour their promise to heal Kite, they could always, and probably would, seek his life afterwards, as an enemy. Any second, things could go horribly wrong. Every second counted. And right now, every action across every second was taking too long.

As he ran across open fields, he almost didn't notice purple storm clouds forming in the sky overhead. Though he suddenly ground to a halt when he realised the clouds swirling to a spiral, gradually heading in his direction. Pitou likewise ground to a halt behind him.

"Is this your doing, or one of the other Ants?" Gon barked at Pitou, with an accusing glare and an edge to his voice. "I swear I'm not doing anything. I've never seen anything like it." the cat-like Ant responded, with a pleading look that seemed genuine. Though still not completely sure he could trust Pitou's word, Gon could tell the swirling cloud mass didn't feel like a construct of any Chimera Ant Nen he had encountered so far. In fact, somehow it didn't feel like Nen at all.

Then the swirling opened up into a vortex, or perhaps even.. a portal!

And then he felt the pull!!

Using Gyo, Gon focused all Nen he could spare into his feet, gripping the ground for all it's worth. Pitou did likewise. And yet, their efforts proved in vain. Pitou was pulled upwards towards the portal, a look of dread on their face illuminated by its hues of purple, pink and blue, and then vanished into the mass completely.

"PITOU!!!" Gon cried out helplessly to empty air as soon he too was pulled into the portal to parts unknown.
