Chapter 19: Rebecca Bluegarden

Rebecca's Perspective

After getting infected by the whatever it was, Rebecca's understanding of events became distorted. She heard Shiki cry out in anger, or maybe in pain, or maybe both (either cries always put her on edge). She heard him say something to Izuku and the other two. Then felt as if she were being carried somewhere, moving really fast. Then heard more voices. Worried voices. And his worried voice.

As warm as the embrace of those arms felt (arms she thought she knew very well), she also felt terribly guilty about the ordeal he must be going through on her account. Funny how near-death experiences really put your life into perspective.

'Unless I'm actually dying now.'

Funny how that thought didn't scare her now. Just a few months ago, her dream was hitting over a million subscribers on her B-Cube channel and becoming famous throughout the Sakura Cosmos. And from then on enjoying a relatively comfortable life for herself and Happy (.. 'Happy'..) with a few benefits for the kindly elder Professor Weisz. How small her self-absorbed outlook really was before she travelled to that Amusement Park on Granbell. Before she met Shiki. Before she made so many new friends, developed her own powers and truly grew as a person.

She wished she could have done more to help her precious friends achieve their dreams, and share more experiences with them. But it seemed that was no longer up to her.

'Thanks everyone, for all you've done to help me achieve my dream. Don't feel too sad for me. Or at least.. don't give up on your own dreams.

'Especially you Shiki. You keep going until you've found Mother, and made 100 friends! And have lots more experiences with them and savour each one every single day.

'Thank you for everything, my very special friend.

'Goodbye.'

"YU-GI-OHHHH!!!"

At once following that unfamiliar cry, a warm tingling feeling spread over Rebecca's body. And a bright light shone through her closed eyelids. She waited until it rescinded before finding she could open her eyes again. She was greeted by the curious sight of a boy with spiky purple hair with blonde streaks and bright purple eyes. And his gentle features brought up in a relieved smile.

And to her opposite side was the one she knew so well, who she now realised had been squeezing her hand tight the whole time (and barely holding back happy tears)

And to her opposite side was the one she knew so well, who she now realised had been squeezing her hand tight the whole time (and barely holding back happy tears). He smiled brightly at her before turning to face the boy.

"Thank you! Thank you so much for helping her!" Shiki said happily.

"Oh, don't thank me!.." the boy smiled modestly, ".. You can thank Yami, or rather.. Atem, well.. him and the Millennium Puzzle." He indicated the pyramid-shaped emblem around his neck, but Shiki just looked confused.
