"No one is even awake, everything is completely settled and dark. Trust me they are never going to know, and you know that Cat sleeps like the dead. Besides, four eyes are better than two, we have to find that document, Dodo! Do you know what will happen if we get caught, I told you we should have done something when we found out Cat was on her way back. I still can't believe Lizard didn't kill her right away, I thought you told him the importance of her not returning?" Fern spoke in a disconcerting malevolent voice.
"You don't think I told him that?" Dodo said in a dangerous tone, "How dare you question me, if it wasn't for me you would have been caught a long time ago! I told you to stop acting so suspicious, Cat was trying way too hard to get you to open up. Something had to be done! There is nothing we can do now, except find that paper, now stop talking and start looking." She commanded sharply as she started to rifle through the papers once more.
Anger coursed through Alice, she had never even considered Fern or Dodo, neither one had seemed capable of being the spy. Them working together, betraying everyone was shocking, to say the least. All of those emotions were coursing through Alice, and the rope she was making glowed even brighter. The time had come, she couldn't even imagine what Cat must be feeling as she lay there pretending to be asleep.
Harrison and Hatter were both waiting on her to tie them up so that they could take them to their temporary holding cell. She knew that she couldn't wait any longer, and she wanted to give them a piece of her mind. She lengthened the rope and directed it to slither along the floor. It crept along silently, getting closer and closer to the two women.
Using her powers, Alice split the rope in two and made it go toward both of the women. She could hear them as they rustled the papers on the desk, and knew that it was only a matter of time before they would realize that there was no paper. Quickly she raised the ropes up and wrapped them around the arms and chests of the women. There were startled gasps and sounds of a struggle.
Stepping out from behind the thick curtain, Alice held up the hand that she was controlling the rope with and turned the two women to face her. Cat quickly sat up in bed and threw off the covers. Hatter uncloaked himself and Harrison from the extra darkness that he had surrounded them with.
"Wha... WHAT, unhand me this instance! Alice... why... I mean you got this all wrong, I was just trying to... I figured the spy would come so I was just trying to..." Dodo fumbled for something to say as if getting caught red-handed in Cat's room was an accident. Her eyes quickly scanned the room and saw everyone there, for a moment they widened until they turned into narrow slits.
Suddenly the lights turned on, causing everyone to squint their eyes as they adjusted to the bright light. Now that the light was on, Alice could clearly see that Dodo was calculating her next move, as Cat strode angrily toward them both. She slapped Fern squarely across the face and then landed one on Dodo as well. The glare that Fern gave back surprised Alice, it was full of malice and didn't go with the quiet person that she had been portraying.
"How dare you both plot my murder! I tried being nice to you, I talked to you, tried to be your friend! I thought we were friends, Dodo! Never in a million years would I have thought you both were the ones that would betray us. Was it worth it to you? Tell me, what exactly are you guys getting out of this? TO BETRAY YOUR FRIENDS! We took you in, treated you like family!" Cat's voice rose with every word, her indignation at them abundantly clear.
"Ha, yes you guys and your 'family'. That was your downfall, it was easy to infiltrate your little group. Especially when I acted dumb and ditzy, when the truth of the matter is, I'm in charge of many of the spies. When Queen Magdala told me about this mission, I personally wanted to take this on, and I recruited Fern to join me. You thought she was quiet and demure, and the way that Duchess acted made it that much easier to throw suspicion on her. You all were so easy to manipulate, I should have known this was a trap. I had to try, I couldn't take the risk that Lizard actually did give you that information." Dodo mockingly told them as she sneered in contempt.
