steve told robin about the horrible things felix and his friends said.

"what the fuck? why do you know these people?"

"that's not the question to be asking- some of these people play on the sports teams i play on."

"this is why i'm never coming out. why is this town so fucking homophobic?"

"maybe you could talk to will? or something? have a... gay heart to heart?" robin started laughing so hard. "whatever, forget i said anything," steve played with his ice cream scooper.

robin calmed down a bit. "no, no, that's a good idea. maybe when i'll talk to him when i see him at school. i'm still confused about what happened to him at the party though."

"so, some kids pulled him out of the bathroom and he puked on one of them and they brought him outside and threw him in the pool."

robin was about to reply but someone ringed the bell. "customers."

tw: mentions of suicide/telling someone to off themselves

will knew he had homework to do but it was a saturday so he decided to go on instagram for a little bit. he was confused when he was tagged in almost a 100 posts and in a bunch of stories.

when he saw the posts he was tagged in, he felt nauseous and memories came flooding back in. one of the posts was on felix's account with the caption "who tf invited barf boy 😬🤮" and the comments were even worse.

"the audacity to show up uninvited n then PUKE on u????"

"shoulda drowned him 😄🤣"

"What tf was he doing in tje bathroom 🥴"

"i was cleaning my shirt, idiots!" will sighed. he knew he shouldn't but he read more of the comments. he couldn't contain his curiosity.

"bet he called the cops 😒😒"

"IS THAT JONATHANS BROTHER LMAOOO"

"following his brother's footsteps fr"

"he'll never forget this"

"LETS GOOO FELIX  🤣🥶"

"lmfao i'd kms if i were him"

that last comment did it for him. he felt warm tears stream down his face and then wiped them, "fuck, will, stop crying like a baby. this is why everyone treats you like one," he told himself. he started to get angry and decided to reply to some of the comments.

to "shoulda drowned him 😄🤣," will responded "and get manslaughter charges? lets gooo"

to "What tf was he doing in tje bathroom 🥴," he replied "why you thinking about that? perv 😬"

to "the audacity to show up uninvited n then PUKE on u????" he responded "i was invited tho but i'd do it again 😍"

he responded to some more comments until he felt the tears in his eyes again, "fuck." he rubbed his eyes.

jonathan and will were on the couch watching a movie jonathan got from family video. joyce would be home soon.

"would you miss me if i died?" will regretted the question as soon the words left his lips.

jonathan was quiet for a second, taking in what will just said. he paused the movie and turned to face will. "will, where is this coming from? of course i would miss you. you're my best friend." will blinked and tears fell.

damn, i'm crying a lot today.

"did something happen?" will turned away, trying to hold back a sob. "will, you can talk to me, okay?" jonathan hugged him and will wrapped his arms tightly around him as he sobbed. after two minutes of this, jonathan said, "everyone would miss you. mom would miss you. max and lucas would miss you. your teachers would miss you. anyone who's gotten to know how kind and smart and talented you are would miss you. and you mean everything to this family." will's lips curled into a smile as his brother said this. "don't you dare do anything stupid, alright?"

will pulled away, "i won't."

mike was on will's instagram profile on his computer contemplating messaging him after scrolling through his tagged's posts. he felt horrible about what happened to will. every post, story, comment, and message he saw about will made him feel worse about not doing more to prevent this. he should've known something was up when someone like felix invited will to a party.

someone knocked on his door. "who is it?"

"can we talk?" it was karen. he got up and unlocked and opened the door. "mike, i'm worried about you." mike sat on his bed. "you didn't come out of your room for lunch."

"i'm grounded."

"that doesn't mean you can't come downstairs to eat. also i told you i left some lunch outside your door that has still been left uneaten. and you ignored my calls to come downstairs for dinner. is there something going on?"

"mom, i'm fine."

karen sighed. she didn't really expect him to open up easily but she had to try. "am i being too hard on you? gosh, it's just hard to find out that my son... physically hurt someone else. i just feel like i'm losing you as each year passes. just know i'm still your mother and i will always be here for you."

"i apologized to him and his friends. the first time didn't go so well but um... the second one was better."

"well, i'm proud of you for owning up to your mistakes. and everyone else is still eating dinner. wanna come eat?"

"sure."

mike followed his mom downstairs and joined his family at the dining table. nancy already finished her food.

"how was your day, mike?"

"good, i guess."

as mike ate his mashed potatoes, he thought about that random call he had. he hated himself for being so stupid and admitting he took gay quizzes when the other person probably didn't know that. he was straight and was now supportive of the lgbtq+ community. at least that's what he told himself. but he was curious if his parents would be supportive incase he was gay.

mike waited for a moment in silence in his parents' conversation to speak.

mike cleared his throat which made his parents and holly look at him. "how would you guys feel if i was gay?"

a deadly silence filled the room and ted let go of his fork. mike's heart raced as if he just ran a mile. karen wiped the corner of her mouth with a napkin. ted and karen looked at each other and then back at mike. "uh, w-we would be supportive for sure," her voice cracked a little so she cleared her throat. "we love you, mike. there's nothing you need to hide from us."

"this is a safe household," ted held karen's hand.

"so, are you gay?" holly asked.

"what? no- i was just wondering."

ted and karen looked at each other with an expression mike couldn't read.

mike decided to fuck it and dm will. what's the worst that could happen? he wouldn't panic like he did during that weird phone call and admit that he took gay quizzes.

he typed, "hey will! just wanna see how ur doing. theres a bunch of ppl posting shit online but just ignore them. felix is just mad that his parents are getting dragged into serious legal trouble w the underage drinking shit. hope ur holding up okay. love, mike."

he deleted the 'love, mike' and changed it to 'from, mike.' he deleted that too. "no one signs off their name on a dm," he muttered.

he hit send.

A/N: a couple years ago i did what mike did and asked my parents if they'd be okay with me being gay. did not go well
