will turned around and saw robin, "hey, will."

"oh, hey robin."

"can we talk? if now's not a good time then..."

max waved to will and walked away.

"um, i can talk now," he was confused about what she would have to say to him.

"okay, are you fine with just walking around outside while we talk?"

"yeah."

they were side by side as they walked outside. when they weren't around a lot of people, robin started speaking. "i heard about what happened at the party. i mean i was at it obviously- you saw me but i didn't really see exactly what happened. god, and the things people said about you. i don't even know if you're out yet or if everyone just assumes you're gay," robin paused, "this is why i'm scared to talk to... this girl. ask the wrong person out in this town and you're basically fucked," she chuckled. will hasn't said anything yet and just let robin talk. "um, feel free to just interrupt me or tell me to shut up 'cause i don't really have a filter or a strong grasp of social cues."

"you're fine."

robin let out a sigh of relief, "sorry, i just don't want you to think i'm weird or annoying since you haven't said much. um, just know i'm here if you ever need to talk about anything. literally anything, i don't care how gross or weird-"

"-okay, thanks. i am gay by the way but i'm not really out. i mean i told my friends but everyone just assumed i was gay i guess."

"man, people suck. like steve said, if someone's bothering you then go to him so that dingus can beat them up... even though he has lost a couple fights. honestly i don't think he could even take a junior, like they'd probably kick his ass." robin and will both laughed. "you wanna exchange numbers?"

"sure," they both took their phones out and gave the other one their phone. they handed their phones back to each other after they finished putting their number in.

"well, hopefully we can have a gay heart to heart sometime."

"a what?"

"a gay heart to h- i don't know. i guess that's what steve calls it when two gays have an intimate conversation."

will smiled from ear to ear, "okay, see you later."

"bye!" robin enthusiastically waved.

when will got home, his friends were already talking in the group chat. he added mike and james into his contacts.

in the group chat they came up with the idea of going to the roller rink after school on friday. they asked will and lucas what they thought about it. lucas had yet to respond but will responded with "sounds like a plan."

will was paranoid about mike turning out like felix so he was gonna keep his guard up. he was unfortunately still crushing on mike. after hearing mike basically admit that he wasn't straight, his feelings seemed to grow stronger ever since he knew he might have a chance now.

-

james went home with mike after soccer practice and they were now just hanging out in his basement. "did you see will's message? he said he would go," mike grinned as he stared at his phone.

james laughed half-heartedly. "you seem excited."

"yeah i," mike looked up at james to see him grinning, "you're making fun of me, aren't you?"

"no, i'm just saying it just seems like you're excited to hang out with him even though you can't skate."

"i can so," mike acted offended.

"the last time we roller skated was in middle school and you fell on your ass the entire time."

"so did you!"

"i never claimed i was good." there was a moment of comfortable silence, "it's okay if you like will."

"i don't know. i don't know how i feel. i don't think i'm gay though 'cause i've only had crushes on girls. h-how did you know you were...?"

"i kinda always felt different and just knew i guess. but it's not the same experience for everyone."

-

"how was your day, will?"

"anyone bother you today?" joyce asked.

"no, i had an okay day."

"just okay?"

"i mean advanced art was fun. it's like my favorite class."

"that's good."

after dinner, will went to his room and got a notification from instagram. he thought everyone would stop tagging him in posts about the party. he grabbed his phone and unlocked it and saw that mike liked a post of his from a couple years ago.

-

james had already left so mike was freaking out in his room by himself.

"fuck, i'm such an idiot!" mike quickly unliked the post.

nancy was walking by his room, "true."

"go away, nancy!" mike shouted.

he lied back in bed, taking deep breaths in and out, "he didn't see it. there's no way he got notified quickly. he probably has notifications off." mike got off of will's profile and went to his feed. he got a couple of notifications of people tagging him in posts of him punching felix. he rolled his eyes and then froze when he saw the most recent notification. will just followed him.

"oh, my god!" mike fist-pumped. someone shut his door while telling him tone it down. he was about to press 'follow back' but retracted his thumb, "shit, i don't wanna follow back too quickly."

after doing homework for a little bit, he followed will back. "why do i feel like a teenage girl who's boy-crazy right now?"

-

will sent a screenshot of mike following him back on instagram in the group chat with max and lucas.

"get it will," max texted back.

lucas just sent a "🙄"

max started a group facetime and the two boys joined.

"damn, lucas, where's the support?" max gave a short laugh.

"i'm just worried because they treated us like shit and now they're trying to be nice? like where the fuck is that coming from?"

will half-smiled, "yeah, i know but i wanna give them the benefit of the doubt."

"whatever, but i swear to god if they do anything to you, i'll fight them."

"will's mom could probably fight them."

"what?" will stared at the screen.

"she's like super protective of you. honestly, it's really sweet."

"yeah," lucas agreed, "your mom's cool."

"i feel like she babies me."

"well, you're adorable," max said which made lucas almost cackle.

will facepalmed, "shut up, i'm not."

"that's what an adorable person would say!"

will groaned while his friends laughed.
