Good girls do bad things sometimes Rafe
My family was new to living in the outer banks we had just moved 17 days ago. I was familiar with the hole pouge and kook thing and what family's were known for what. It was kinda part of my job.
That's right job. See Mr.Cameron worked with my dad. Technically my dad was his boss but they were so close it was more like they were colleagues. My 3 older brothers also worked for my dad. Me? I worked for my dad as well but in a different way then my brothers. They were more the muscles and I was more the brain. I was the one that would get the Intel all the dirty secrets.
Most people thought the Royal Merchant was the famous ship wreck. Believing the story my great, great, great, grandfather had told many years ago. Truth be told it was much deeper and darker then the story. But that's how it is when your family is the one of the top familys in the Bahamas mafia.
As I walked past my dads office I heard him on the phone "Yeah I'll come over in twenty minutes with Y/N. She will don't worry Ward." My dad Hanging up the phone and looking up to see me in the doorway. "Where are we going and what am I doing?" I questioned arms crossed.
"The Cameron's house. Me and Ward have decided that since Rafe has now graduated he will start working with us." My dad stated matter of factly.
The nice thing about my family is that what our family did was never a secret in our household. Well it was when we were little but when you get taken out of school in the 6th grade to be homeschooled. And taught things like self defence, how to use guns, and escape being kidnapped on top of your daily school work. It's no longer a secret it's the family business."Hey Chris long time no see." Ward greeted my dad with a hug and turning to me "and you Y/N. Wow it's been a few years since I've seen you now." giving me a hug as well. "It's nice to see you again Mr.Cameron." Returning the hug.
The Cameron's had a house a few doors down from us in the Bahamas. Our families used to have 3 day long barbecues together in the summer. Twice a month. Once in the Bahamas and once on the outer banks. But that was 3-4 years ago now. The Cameron kids never knew anything about what there dad did or the fact that my hole family did the same thing. It was nice to be able to hang with them and be a "normal young adult" for once. But those days were pretty much over now. Especially considering that Rafe is now joining us. I never thought I'd see the day that the immature kook douche bag would be working for my dad. Me and Rafe had an unusual friendship. We were always close compared to me and Sarah. Not that me and her weren't close it was just a different type of close. Which to the rest of the outer banks was weird. On the outside I was more like Sarah the "good girl". The polite, well mannered, always willing to help girl. Which wasn't totally wrong but it was the way I had to be. It was how I was able to get close to the people I needs information on for my dad. But when me and Rafe were together he got to see a small part of the other side of Y/N Saunders. The one where we would sneak out to the boat at night. Or when I would take him to an old abandoned house on the ruff side of the Island. Those were the night were we talked for hours where I got to know the true Raff and were he got to know most of the true Y/N.
"Hey Rose, how have you been?" I hug the woman I've known for years but always had a weird feeling about. "Oh Y/N it's been to long honey. And I'm good busy but good." She smiled sweetly letting go of our hug. "The kids are outside by the pool." Rose said going back to cutting up fruit.I walked out of the back sliding doors to see Sarah suntanning on a lounge chair and wheeze in the pool. Wow has she grown since the last time I saw her. The only one I didn't see was Rafe slightly disappointed but I knew he was around here somewhere. Considering he was the reason we were over here in the first place.
"Hey bean, how's it been?" I say getting the attention of both girls. "Y/N" they both squeal. Sarah getting up to give me a hug and wheeze getting out of the pool and running to grab a towel before she came to give me a hug. "Hey I have grown I'm not that small anymore." The soaking wet little girl said looking up at me. "You will always be my small bean wheez." I giggled squeezing her in a tight hug.
Me and the girls sat with our feet in the pool catching up briefly on the last few years without each other. Both girls being excited that I'm now living here and we will be seeing each other more often again. Me also excited that I will have some girls in my life again. My mom was still apart of my life my parents were still married. But my mom had been living and taking care of her parents seeing as they were both sick for the last year. My brothers went over every once and a while helping with their part of the business and moving it over to us. I didn't see her very often and she had taken her self out of activity working with my dad mostly taking care of paper work when she could.
"Girls lunch is ready." Rose yelled out the back door.
All sitting down at the table I noticed that I still hadn't seen Rafe. I had been here almost an hour were was he?
"There she is the one and only Duckling" Rafe said walking into the dining room. The rest of the table laughing at the old nick name. "You are never going to let that name go are you?" I slightly glared at the boy beside me. "Nope." He smiled taking a sip of water.
When I was about 6-7 I would follow my older brothers and Rafe around every time our familys were together. Finally one day Rafe got annoyed and told me to stop following them like a little duckling. I had tried standing my ground saying I was a year and a half older then him and that he was just flowing my brothers around as well. But being the shortest I was treated as the younger one. The name stuck since that day."Let's say grace." Rose said putting her hands out for the girls on either side of her to hold. I bowed my head down grabbing Sarah's and Rafes hands. "Since when was your family religious? I questioned nudging Rafe. "Since 10 seconds ago I guess." Rafe smiled at me trying not to laugh. I had nothing against religion my family used to go to church every Sunday. Praying before we ate at the Cameron's house was just never something we had done before.
Another new story 😬 this one might take some time for me to write and I think it might be a long one. Idk let me know if I should turn it into it's own book
