Chapter 7: The Bathtub

Your legs ached but you didn't care. You had decided to head straight to the Wheeler's house, not knowing where the party would be. It seemed the best place to start. It wasn't until you turned the corner onto their street that the radio spat out at you again.

"They're... Eleven!... Know... Answer!" You couldn't hear the words over the static but you knew it was Lucas. What if he found it?

"...son of a bitch!" Yep, definitely Lucas. You went to respond when another voice spoke through.

"Lucas, if you can hear us, slow down. We can't understand you." Mike. You breathed a heavy sigh of relief. They were okay.

"Yes, I copy! Do you? They know about Eleven! The bad men are coming! All of them! Do you hear me? The bad men are coming!"

Your celebration was premature. Lucas words were proven true when a dozen vans rounded the corner in front of you. They looked like repair vehicles. No one needed that many repair vehicles. Fuck.

You pedalled faster. You were closer in distance to the house but your wheels were nothing compared to theirs.

They got there first, exiting the vans quickly and efficiently. You stopped, panting from the exercise. They were headed to the back of the house.

You took a different route, one you knew was quicker. You sped along the back of your house and saw 3 figures enter your view.

"Guys!" You yelled, "They're-"

Your warning was cut short when you finally stopped behind them. You looked to the right and saw men stood, staring at the party. One man in particular was staring at Eleven.

"Go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go!" Dustin shouted and they started pedalling their own bikes.

"Y/N! Come on!" He yelled at you when he noticed you hadn't moved. The man's focus had shifted to you and you couldn't look away. He was much older, his white hair showing his age. And his face... how did you know that face?

"Y/N!" They all screamed, getting your attention. You finally picked up your leg and slammed it onto the pedal, steering yourself away in the direction of the boys and El. As soon as you did so, the men sprinted back to the vans.

You made your way onto the road, making sure to stay behind the kids in case the vans caught up to you.

"Dustin! Mike! Y/N? Do you copy?" Lucas tried contacting you, his voice blaring through the radio you had taped to your bike.

"We're here!" You shouted into the radio.

"What's going on?"

"Yeah, Lucas, they're on us!" Dustin replied through his head set. You remember when the others had made fun of it when he first showed it to everyone, saying that he wouldn't ever need it. They were clearly wrong.

"Where are you?"

"Cornwalls." You said. It had taken you ages to learn the street names.

"Meet me at Elm and Cherry!"

"Copy. Elm and Cherry!" Dustin shouted out, alerting Mike of the plan.

You all headed towards the other street, thinking you were in the clear until the vans resurfaced, following from behind you.

"Shit!" You and Dustin yelled simultaneously.

"This way come on!"

You weren't expecting a speed chase with the party when you woke up. It was killing your legs and seemingly almost killing children when you all biked though a small playground, Dustin yelling at them to move.
