Tomioka's pov:
He wants us to fight eachother!? Well I guess that makes sense.
Tomioka thought as he looked up to meet sabitos lavender eyes.
He could see the anger and confusion in them, but as realisation set in, they calmed. A sence of understanding flashed in them before he looked back towards master Ubuyashiki.
Tomioka felt the same. He was mad and a little confused, but it still made sence.
To deem who was more skilled in combat, when No one had seen either of them fight enough to properly say who was better. The easiest was to get an answer was to make them fight it out.
As simple as that.
And now that Tomioka was healed, at least to an extent where it didn't completely hurt to move. They could fight and see who would come out on top. That's how they would tell who was best.
A simple duel, no killing or maiming or any inflicting of injuries too great; that way they wouldn't be loosing valuable members. They could see who was best, and the better slayer would become the water hadhira. Or stay the water hashira in Tomiokas case.
He was soon brought from his thoughts as Sabito vegan to speak.
"So you want me and Giyuu to fight. Are we gonna do it now, if so the conditions would be appreciated."
Sabito said, a subtle gruff tone in his voice. And anyone who knew him could tell he was both trying to hold back his anger, and sound at least somewhat eager to the fight ahead.
But it was an act, so that Sabito seemed as if the duel wasn't that mutch of a big deal.
But it was. It would be, for both himself and the peach-haired man that he loved.
Both of didn't want to fight eachother. Don't get him wrong, yes, it would be great to know who was better skilled. But they had bad experiences fighting eachother in the past. And now isn't exactly the best time to resurface old, and deeply buried trauma.
I guess I know what tonight's little therapy sessions is gonna be about.
Tomioka thought with a sigh. But he guessed that that conversation has been a long time comming.
But yet again, he was shaken from his thoughts by a voice, this time the master's calm one.
"Conditions will be the same as normal duels within the corps, I'm assuming you've some knowledge of them?"
The master asked in a non condescending tone of voice.
Sabito just nodded in response.
"Those rules, and you will have fifteen minutes to prepare. The fight will take place right here, in the front-court of my estate. Do be ready within the next fifteen minutes."
A pause as the information sank in.
"You're dismissed."
So were supposed to fight now. Damn, he's really about not wasting any time.
The water hashira thought to himself as he stood and bowed in sync with the rest of the slayers around him.
Then again, he's always been like that. Both in a rush and endlessly patient.
His thoughts continued as he began to walk towards the side of the courtyard. To rest in the shade, maybe meditate a little bit as well.
But he was rudely interrupted by a short, purple haired woman.
"So your actually trying to keep the rank. That's a shocker."
Shinobu said, crossing her arms and with a judgmental smirk on her face.
