" 'Morning!" I say to the work colleagues.
I make my way into the backrooms to leave my backpack and lunch bag. My morning thoughts go straight to the moments from yesterday... I cannot help but to blush a little.
As I move my body into the mirror reflexion, I see Sonic's curious eyes wandering from the back. I turn around to smile shyly but I get interrupted by my phone ringing.
It's my mom. I speak to her in the kitchen and make Sonic wait for a while. She needs help from me when she comes back home, in the garden, my favorite place.
"Amy, I have to go!" I hear Sonic yell from upstairs.
I sigh and tell my mother goodbye.
I am greeted by his chest in my face when I get out of the kitchen. Why does he keep doing this??? I have accepted that he doesn't love me... He has never seen me as a romantic partner. But at the same time... he is all that I got, so I have to seize the moment.
Now is the time. I embrace him immediately and rub my head against his chest. He immediately reacts the same way, but more careful so he doesn't hurt me.
"Take care of yourself, Sonikku. Thank you for stealing the dress for me!" I giggle.
"Heh, no problem, Ames. The least I could do after you paid for my chilidogs. Thank you very much, Amy."
I smile to him.
"No problem."
I open the door for him and he raises his thumb up with the signature smirk on his face before dashing into the street.
I remain at the door.
Sonic...
I jump back into reality and close the door after me.
Time to work. I smile as I look around and see the working ladies who are laughing and having a good time, while still working.
I remember that I have made a friend here, a pure white weasel, who is very nice to me and makes me very happy.
We kinda gossip a little at work and laugh, sometimes the angry manager draws our attention, but we listen, so it's alright.
Today she is not here. I have to carry on with the work and maybe do some of hers too, to make her happy when she comes back.
I am used to helping people and I love it. I love seeing their faces when they are happy and we are happy together.
Sonic made me like this, he is the definition of freedom, love and happiness. Not romantic love, but it's still something.
Knuckles also helped me become a better person. We taught each other all these beautiful things. I miss him everyday. I hope he is alright wherever he is.
I sigh as I am folding the Rick and Morty t-shirts from the aisle.
"Rose, your necklace fell." I hear the manager say from behind.
I am confused because I don't wear any necklace. I turn around to pick a silver necklace with a blue heart in the middle. Wait. I recognize this piece of jewelry.
I tremble as I discover what this means. It used to be Blaze's necklace. Silver had given it to her on their anniversary.
I am scared and I am sweating a lot. How did this end up here? I have to tell Sonic about this.
"Come on, Rose! I don't pay you for staying."
"Forgive me!"
I put the necklace into my pocket fast and go back to folding t-shirts. Blaze's necklace is the only thing I think about all day.
How is this possible? They have disappeared 6 months ago. After we defeated Bocoe and Decoe's attempt to betray Eggman and use his tech against humanity.
Since then it has been only me and... Sonic. The survivors.
I finish my shift and I just cannot wait to find Sonic and tell him about Blaze's necklace. I just quickly change my t-shirt and take my stuff. I check for the necklace, and I am relieved that it's still in my pocket.
"Bye, girls!" I say as I leave.
I would call Sonic to tell him to meet me here, but he doesn't have a cellular. I like his way of living, but sometimes it's hard... it was easier when the gang was complete and we communicated easier.
But I have an idea where he might be right now.
I get into the car and drive as fast as I can. To the largest forest from the city.
I know he is there. I can feel it.
I stop the car somewhere safe and I enter the forest. I appreciate the fact that they preserved the trees from here. It feels more like a rainforest. It's very big, I hope Sonic will hear me if I shout his name.
This is important. For both of us.
I look around and see happy animals who follow their routine. I giggle because I find them very adorable. I know why Sonic loves living like this.
"SONICC!!!" I shout very loud.
After three shouts, my knight finally arrives. In no time.
"Sup, Ames?" he asks.
"Sonic.. I found something interesting today. In the store. I really think you should see this."
I search for the necklace in the pocket but he interrupts me.
"Sure thing, Ames, but... I want to bring you somewhere first. Do you mind?"
"Uh, no. It can wait... but don't forget to remind me."
His thumb is risen again.
"Alright!" He picks me up bridal style and surprises me.
He takes the time to smile at me and heads out to the place he wants to bring me to.
We arrive in no time and I am told to close my eyes. I can feel Sonic's dirty gloves covering my face. I hate this feeling, I should probably bring him new gloves. But I enjoy my time with him.
I am excited to see where he has brought me.
"You can open your eyes now!"
As soon as I open my eyes I see a small lightened piece of land among tall trees that shadow us. But this... feels like a fairytail. I see a red blanket on the grass. There is a picnic basket filled with delicious blueberries.
I start crying as I realise that Sonic has spent all morning to collect this blueberries and prepared all of this... for me.
He takes notice of my crying and asks me if I am okay.
I nod and he grabs my hand to sit on the blanket.
"Wow. This place is truly beautiful, Sonic! Thank you for bringing me here. I appreciate it very deeply."
He is sitting unbothered with his face to the sky and his arms behind his head. Classic.
"This was nothing, I have more for you. Now, please relax."
I blush and sit in silence with him for quite some time. I start eating blueberries.
What else does he have for me?
