Imperfect meeting

The beautiful sounds of the birds fill up my ears with calmness. You might say I am meditating right now.

I am finally at peace, but not wholly. What I found this morning is haunting me and I need some answers. 

I look at Sonic while he is fixing an old portable radio. I like how concentrated he is. It's kinda funny.

"Do you need help with that?"

"No, thank you Amy. I am almost done."

I giggle a little. 

"Done!" He says with half of tongue out. He is adorable like this.

I giggle again.

"What is it about, Sonic?"

He gets up on his feet and closes his eyes. He reaches his hand to me and invites me to dance when the song "Love Me Tender" by Elvis Presley starts playing. 

I accept his invitation. I am blushing very hard right now. This song is my favorite, how did he know? 

He starts singing it while rotating me around and giggling.

I didn't know Sonic could dance like this. But I am happy in this moment. Nothing else matters, just our hands touching to the rhythm and sincere smiles.

I feel a warm feeling inside me, some kind of comfort. The song is about to finish and he brings me very close to his heart. He supports my back with the most tender hands and care.

And I always will...

And our foreheads touch. I can feel his lips wanting to reach mine, but nothing happens. We just stay like this. I honestly don't want to kiss him right in this moment. Even if it feels the perfect time, I don't think I am ready.

"Amy..." he whispers into my ear.

Ah, why does my name sound so good through his voice?

"Yes, Sonic?" I ask as I put my hands on his back and hug him tighter and tighter with every second we have left.

"I am sorry for everything." he says with an almost crying voice.

I know what he is trying to say, so I assure him that it's nothing.

"Yesterday when you saw me passing by your car you seemed sad. But sad because you saw me. What happened?" he whimpers on my neck.

I pat his head and sigh. I truly feel sorry for making him believe I was sad to see him yesterday. It might be true, but...

"Oh, Sonic... I promise you I am alright. I just was nostalgic in some way. I am still trying to move on from the past and I haven't seen you for a long time... I didn't know how to feel, do you understand? I am sorry for making you believe something else."

I push him to look into his emerald eyes and say " You make me very happy and fulfilled, believe me." I wipe a lost tear from his eye.

He does the same for me, as we are both crying.

" Now, let's be happy that we got each other, whatcha say? " I ask him.

" Amy... Can I kiss you on the cheek? " he asks shyly.

" S-sure, Sonic "

He holds my hand and kisses me very slowly. I return the favor quickly and we both blush.

" Thank you. " he says.

" You are welcome I guess..." 

We sit on the blanket again and relax, but we are both thinking about what we have just done. I know I am thinking about it, he is too.

He coughs to catch my attention.

" So... what did you want to show me earlier? " Sonic asks.

He interrupts my thoughts and I am glad. 

" Uh. I found something strange today." I say as I reach for my pocket " Look." I hand him the necklace that once belonged to Blaze.

He shows a very surprised look. He examines the necklace and finds a picture inside it. I didn't know it had that to be honest.

The picture is with her and Silver. Such a cute couple.

He gasps. " Where did you find this? " " Uh. Surprisingly at work. It just seems off because they have been missing for 6 months and Blaze is usually very careful with her stuff, especially if it's with Silver. You know her. " 

" You are right, it really is weird. " He takes some time to think.

" Do you think we should check out Tail's workplace? " He asks serious.

" Why? That place is dusty and has been shut down since the incident. " 

" I know... but we have to see if something else appeared. If Blaze's necklace is here, maybe Tail's stuff appeared too or I don't know, I just have to know and see." 

I see the determination in his eyes and nod.

" Okay, Sonic. We will go there, but we have to plan something, as there are cops around the place. " 

" Pff. Do not worry about that, Ames! They have a schedule, and we are going to wait until tomorrow, when they are free from work. Alright? "

I nod.

" Alright. "
