Redemption

Sonic smiles at Amy as he gets her on the freshly fixed X-tornado. They are going to follow Scourge's plan, that is reaching the highest speed around Earth's orbit so they can stop time and travel trough other dimensions using the power of the Chaos Emeralds they found last week.

They are not sure if the plan will work, but they have to have faith. The plan sounds logical and they have no other choice left.

So it's set, Amy is going to fly the X-tornado synchronizing to Sonic's fast running in a very short period of time. 

Sonic kisses Amy's forehead before setting her off and Mark is disgusted by them, but he is forced to help them. 

They chuckle as Amy puts on her safety helmet and prepares her hammer. She is determined to bring all of her friends back and make sure they are safe. Even Eggman so Sonic doesn't get bored anymore.

The plan is already set, all they have to do is run and fly the fastest simultaneously so they can travel to Nublar island.

Amy is already thinking about Blaze, Rouge and Cream, but she has to really give everything she has at the moment if she wants to see them whole.

She takes a deep breath while looking at Blaze's necklace one more time. She is ready and nods at Sonic, meaning the "race" can start now.

They are outside Tails' workshop place and they are in position.

"Take care out there guys." Mark says. He backs away from the two hedgehogs and starts counting up to three. By the time he opens his eyes, they were already gone.

"Amy, try to go beyond the Chaos Emerald's limits." Sonic shouts at the speaker attached to his wrist. 

As concentrated as Amy is in this moment, she manages to shout back "Sonic, are you out of your mind? That would be chaotic! If I do this I have to succeed from the first try!!" 

Sonic smirks as he maintains his speed limit around the Earth's orbit. "That's why I trust you enough to complete this." he interrupts the speaker and "goes beyond his limits".

Amy is left with almost anger, but she knows she has to do it even if she is not a good pilot. She has to do all these things. For her loved ones. 

She deeply inhales and when she opens her eyes, she pushes the lever that activates the emeralds to their full potential, but she pushes the lever so hard that it breaks and the Chaos Emeralds start glowing even brighter and emanate a highly vibrational power.

Amy is flabbergasted by what she has just created, but she takes the chance and reaches Sonic's speed across the entire Earth.

"You're doing great, Amy! Haha!" Sonic shouts in enthusiasm. If Shadow was on his moon base glancing at the window, he would be amazed to see two very bright lights dancing and racing with each other. Until they suddenly disappear.

I still feel dizzy after the madness from earlier. I feel lightweight as I am swinging in Sonic's arms. I open my eyes quickly to make sure that it's Sonic indeed. And it is. He is carrying me in his arms and staying alert.

"S-Sonic? Who are we running from?" I ask with a soft voice as I start yawning. He hugs me tighter and we change the direction into a dark valley covered by the tallest trees I have ever seen in my life.

We finally stop by a tree and catch our breaths. "What was that about?" I ask. He smiles and hugs me unexpectedly. "We made it to the island, Amy." Sonic whispers to my ear. I am content. "We get to save them. Finally." I hug him back and we stay like this for a moment.

Some noises dare to appear out of nowhere and scare the gang off. Shadow wasn't going to run away, but protect his friends against danger. He has learnt the important lesson: always fight for your home. Because of the running from the dinosaurs, they were forced to change temporary homes they made there...

The noise is very annoying and vibrant. Shadow comes to a quick realization. Finally... This is where faith has brought me. Thank you Universe. Maria, we will meet again soon.

He is being dragged by Rouge's arm and she points to the sky. A burning shade of royal blue can be seen from the top of the tree. Blaze almost faints but Amy is quick to catch her and surprise all of them.

Rouge still holds Shadow's arm and raises a finger to Amy while also crying a little. "Y-You guys made it here? Are you guys okay? I can't believe you are finally here!" she says with a shaky voice.

Amy smiles at her while putting Blaze down. "I am happy to see you too guys. Very happy. We thought we had lost hope until I found Blaze's necklace at work and everything changed." she takes a second to look up where Sonic is staying confidently.

"Actually... He changed everything." They all look at Sonic for a moment and Rouge runs to hug her, followed by Knuckles, Shadow, Tails, Silver and a half woken up Blaze.

"Oh, my dear. We have been waiting for you." Rouge says on a breathy tone. Amy smiles and Sonic gets down from the tree to join the reunion.

It is a lovely friend group reunion. But they all look different. This is what 6 months on another dimension does to you. It makes you look older, I guess. Rouge has just started complaining about the lack of sunscreen and that she is looking forward to touching the expensive bottles she owns.

Amy chuckles as she hears her friends' stories. Shadow suddenly steps in and dares to ask "I understand that you have come here safely and I am glad to see you here, but now how will we get home?"

Everybody turns to him with a stern look, but Amy and Sonic give each other worried looks. Where is the X-Tornado now? Do we have to execute the plan again? are just some of the questions they want answers to.

The gang stays hopeless and Shadow sighs. "Don't worry, we will figure this out." he taps Sonic's shoulder. "Come with us at our main base." he says as everyone starts heading there.

Tails and Knuckles stay behind Sonic so they can catch up with their blue best friend. "Sonic, you were so amazing to finally arrive here! How did you do it?" Tails asks in enthusiast. Knuckles keeps his smirk and walks on Sonic's left without saying anything.

The blue hedgehog is shy now and is on the verge to answer, but some shouting can be heard from nearby. They all stop walking and Sonic's eyes meet Shadow's. They nod as they know they have to go see what's happening. The gang decides it is their time to shine too.

So Sonic and Shadow are followed by Knuckles, Tails, Silver, Blaze, Rouge and finally Amy. Just like old times.

But now they have to fight with dinosaurs, or not...

He chuckles in disgust. "You sure have a lot of nerve to be like this, old rat." the green figure says as he wipes blood from his mouth. Eggman's smile is getting brighter by every second. He looks much older now and very weak but still has the moves. Or not?

The next thing you know, Scourge punches his chin and makes him fall to the ground. No one can beat the king, he thinks to himself. But they still have some unsolved business. Eggman is no loyal man, but neither is Scourge. 

Scourge as confident as he is, he starts smirking and laughs like a total maniac. 

"You shall hail to the king, baby." he whispers on a breathy tone while dominating Eggman's back with his left foot.
