"Maria it's really not that big a deal" Luis groaned, sitting on his bed while Maria paced his room
"Not a big deal? Not a big deal Luis?! She's my best friend! It's weird for you to like her! Ew you can't just make out with her in a pool I was there! I saw! You know that right? I saw! No no no this is eugh no. What about Cam? Poor sweet Cam!" Maria ranted but Luis had little to no clue what she was saying
"Maria it's not really up to you" he sulked
"It. Is. WEIRD!" she hit his arm
"And you and Jeremiah aren't weird? Don't act like you haven't had a weird little thing going on this summer!" Luis scoffed
"You know I like Jeremiah! You've always known I was eventually gonna get with Jeremiah! You and Belly was unexpected! I wasn't like prepared for that!" Maria complained
"Wait you didn't deny it...you and Jeremiah are you like a...are guys like a thing?" He asked shallowly
"Yes Luis! Catch up man I thought you were my brother aren't you supposed to like stalk me" she brushed it away
"you should've told me you and Jere were a thing" he told her sternly
"and you should've told me you had a crush on Belly!" Maria snapped back and they both just kind of glared at each other for a second "Ok look. Let's just be cool with each other's relationships for now alright but I swear on our mother's sweet soul if you so much as raise your voice to my Belly I will end you Luis Martinez!" Maria threatened
"Yeah alright I got it" he rolled his eyes but there was a sort of siblingly love behind it "but...we're not like other siblings Mari. you can tell me stuff. we're past the awkward over protective stuff alright?" he told her gently
"yeah...i know, same goes" Maria smiled softly "anyways Susannah needs me for my portrait so..." Maria awkwardly made a gesture to leave
"yeah yeah you should um go to that yeah" Luis laughed
"yeah" Maria smiled and went off. she got changed out of her pyjamas and into the outfit Susannah wanted her in for her portrait

"ok i'm really a debutante now" Maria grinned as she emerged onto the patio
"oh wow" Belly laughed as Maria posed dramatically
"you're nothing short of stunning Mari" Susannah shook her head with a light laugh "come sit, Jeremiah wants you in a while" Susannah gestured for a stool. Maria took off her jacket and sat down
"wants me?" Maria frowned
"something about the ball and...oh i don't know he just wants me to hurry up" Susannah shrugged and positioned her canvas
"here" Belly came over and fixed Maria's hair so it sat nicely over her shoulders
"thank you Bells" Maria blew her a kiss before sitting up right for Susannah to start painting
