A fleet of guards and one of the planet's most eligible bachelors - I thought we'd be inundated with crowds for sure. But I should not have doubted the Royal Palace's abilities to keep anything discreet.
Gone were our wet clothes. Instead, Bright and I were in almost matching black jackets and caps. We were also both wearing reading glasses with fake lenses. I knew for a fact that plain clothes security were tailing us but I couldn't begin to guess where they were.
It felt private. As if we were two normal men on a date in Japan.
I laugh at the thought. There was nothing normal about flying to another country for a date. But you get me.
We could walk wherever we wanted to walk. We took the trains from Kyoto to Osaka to Tokyo. We hopped into taxis when we got lost. We had to line up for the ferris wheel and line up for sushi. People walked past us, some even bumped into us. And it was glorious.
His hand could be in mine. Or my arm could be around his waist. Or his head resting on my arms. Or I could be squeezing into him as the rollercoaster car fell from a steep height. And no one would care.
We were on a rooftop bar now, surrounded by people drinking fruity cocktails or dancing to the beat of the loud electronic music. I was pressed to Bright's side, just taking it all in.

"I didn't think you'd be into the clubbing scene," I tell him. "You're full of surprises."
"I have never been clubbing."
"You're kidding."
"I am afraid, I am not."
"But you're the Crown Prince," I whisper under my breath. "Wouldn't you have been invited to every party in the world?"
"I am not very fond of people."
I laugh at this. "I am sure your constituents would love to hear that."
Bright gives me a small, sheepish smile that makes him more adorable than he already was. "Please keep that a secret," he pleads.
He was irresistible. I kiss the tip of his nose. "I will take it to my grave."
