Chapter 40

Cana Pov

Freezing cold wind moved through the forest as we stopped on a clearing with a small river right beside it. How could it be so cold here when the city was rather warm. Irene's father turned around to us from his spot in front. "Here this is the place we will set up our camp." Irene's father stated and jumped off the wagon. We were not completely alone as a professional hunter was with us controlling the second wagon.

I smiled fondly down to my lap as his head was resting right there on it. "So how long will he be knocked out until he can move." Lilia asked concerned while gently shaking the sleeping child Irene. 

How long he'd be this way? The intense rocking over uneven terrain for 2 hours caused even little Irene's spell to wear off and she was so proud to try and use an enchantment against motion sickness. It did help on her older version but on Y/n. He was out in mere minutes. I looked to the queen who didn't seem like a royal at all at the moment as she was wearing clothes a peasant would wear in these times. "I don't know but he sure as hell wont be able to go with us." I replied stroking over his cheek.

"We will not go with them either Cana." Lilia smiled fondly towards her husband. "We have stuff to do in the camp to set up everything until Irene and my husband are back." She stated and picked little Irene up in her arms. 

The older Irene yawned and scooted out of the wagon stretching her arms. "Thanks little me. I really needed that spell." She cheered and highfived her small version.

I moved Y/n's head of my lap and pulled him by the shoulders out of the wagon right onto the ground. "Here Cana lay him on this." Irene exclaimed and threw a blanket on the ground right next to what seemed to be a fire place.  

I observed what the others did and Irene's father came up to the small Irene. "Here Irene you get to have this one." He stated and handed her a crossbow. "Its too heavy." The child whined and everyone laughed even the older Irene.

Pots, cutlery and other blankets got brought next to the camp by Irene's family with the little girl helping too. "I must say this family dynamic that you have Lilia is quite nice to see." I stated and she smiled fondly at me. "I know." She breathed out and plopped down right next to me on a cushion with a wooden board and a knife in her hand. "Darling where are the vegetables." She called out sweetly and the king appeared right behind the wagon with a wicker basket fool of vegetables.

"Here Lilia." He stated and she pulled him down giving a kiss to him. The king turned towards the second wagon and grabbed the crossbow from little Irenes hands. "Come on Irene its time for your first hunting trip." He stated and took her by the hand. "Gildarts you will stay here with Cana and my wife to keep look around the camp and anything they need for the food." He stated and Gildarts nodded. "Irene are you coming too." He exclaimed and the older one jumped up. "Yes Father." She replied and ran right up to him with a quiver full of crossbow bolts.

In the camp now remained only the queen chopping and peeling the vegetables, Gildarts sitting on a rock Y/n who laid right next to me on a blanket and I sitting. "Cana can you get some water into the pot half full please and Gildarts we have a hatchet in the second wagon can you chop some wood up." She stated and we both nodded.

I took the metal pot walking away to the stream right next to the camp. Out here the only noise were the birds and the steady flow of the water. The queen didn't even wear any shoes right now. 

The kingdom of Dragnof an eternal nation with morals so high and family values so strong nothing can pierce it. An ideal world with probably a dark secret.

I touched the water slowly with my fingers feeling how cold it was, it was very cold. I lifted the pot inside letting it get half full. "Cana are you done." Gildarts called out and I quickly jumped up. "Yes dad." I replied and pulled the heavy pot up.
