Chapter 41

After thirty minutes of Hoseok crying, Jin scolding Jungkook for being stupid and Yoongi apologizing for the hundredth times, the boys finally left the room where Jungkook was in.

All of them left but Jimin offered to stay behind to keep a look on him which was weird because none of the two men dared to utter a word until Jungkook broke the silence.

"Jimin I-" He started but then he instantly paused to take the time to think throughly about what he's going to say next.

How will he explain this to Jimin? And who even told Jimin that he did it for Taehyung??

"You don't have to lie to me, you know" Jimin softly trails after remarking Jungkook's nervousness. The least thing he wants is for Jungkook to find an excuse or lie to him again. "Why didn't you tell me that you're in love with him?"

Jungkook didn't immediately respond to that, instead, he took a deep breath and closed his eyes before reopening them.

"Because it was complicated, okay?" He abruptly and desperately cries out. "You are my friend and I didn't want to hurt you!"

Jimin is his fucking- best friend and he always knew that he has feelings which Jungkook could never reciprocate.

And that made it hard, impossible for him to open up to his childhood best friend because he didn't want to hurt Jimin. He never wanted to hurt Jimin.

"Yeah, I'm your best friend so why should it hurt me? I would've been happy for you!" Jimin halfway lies.

Right. He would have been sad that Jungkook is in love with someone else because Jungkook was his fucking crush for years but on the other hand, he would've been happy because if loving Taehyung makes Jungkook happy then it must've alleviate his pain, wouldn't it?

"Don't lie on me, Chim!" Jungkook whispers under his breath but Jimin was sitting down next to him so he didn't have any difficulty to hear what the younger just said. "I know you love me!" He adds and Jimin's heart clenched right away.

"I love you because you're my best friend-"

"NO!" Jungkook interrupted Jimin with a shake of the head. "You're in love with me, Chim. Please don't lie, okay?"

And Jimin inwardly panicked.

So Jungkook knew? He knew that Jimin was in love with him? That's why he kept pushing Jimin away these past few days?? Was it so obvious?

"Is that why you were a bit distant these days? Because you knew??" Jimin surprisingly found within himself the courage to ask.

If his love pulled him away from Jungkook then he should blame himself for being the biggest idiot of this entire universe because he just ruined the most beautiful friendship of his life.

"I didn't want to give you false hopes nor hurt you" Jungkook sighed out, feeling bad because Jimin is struggling to hold in his tears and he knows how sensitive his friend can get. "You're my best friend and I'll always protect you, okay?"

"Protect me? But I bet you won't get a bullet for me like you did with Tae" Jimin playfully comments, giggling a little before his face turned serious again.

Fuck! Why does it hurt this much?? He is trying to accept it and be a supportive friend for once then why does it break him apart??

"I will!" Jungkook firmly exclaims, and he doesn't have a doubt in what he affirmed.

He would have taken that bullet for Jimin or for one of his friends. He might be a bastard that people call heartless but he'll do anything for his friends.
