MAVIS WALKED HOME AFTER SCHOOL. As her house came more and more into view, she could vaguely see a car and two people in her driveway. Ugh. Jonathan's car. It only took her a few more steps for her to make out that it was Nancy and Jonathan. It seemed that they had been waiting on her.
As she made her way up the driveway they looked over at her. "Hey Mavis," Nancy said kindly.
"Hey guys," she said sounding confused as her eyes darted between the two.
"I know you're mad at me but please listen. We need your help," Jonathan said putting up his arm.
She stood there, listening to their proposed plan.
"So let me get this straight. You guys believe that the guys from last year aren't actually gone, so you called Mrs. Holland asking her to meet us to test that theory, and you want me to skip school to come with you guys to see it through?" she asked.
"Yes," Nancy said.
She let a few moments pass, thinking it through. "Okay," she said simply.
Shocked by how quickly she gave in, they both looked confused. "Wait you're in?" Nancy questioned.
"Yeah, let's take those assholes down."

The next morning came quickly for Nancy and Jonathan. The same could not be said about Mavis. As every night passed, she felt her grip on the real world weakening more and more.
It was an odd feeling really. To be so amazed yet so terrified of what loom over her.
It was around 4:30 am when she awoke from her nightmare. It was different, this time her nightmare consisted of unsettling tunnel systems and then her in a white room, alone with an old white man. She thought it odd.
She felt that fresh air might help her calm down. She got out of bed, made her way to her window, and opened it, sitting on the windowsill.
She looked up at the sky above her. Watching as it flickered back and forth between the real world and The Upside Down. She felt almost amazed by the creature as it flickered in and out. She pulled out her camera, holding it up. She was sure it wouldn't show up but knew it was worth a try.
"What are you?" she whispered to herself as she looked through the camera lens.
At that moment she decided she needed to visit Will. If she was seeing this, she could only wonder what he was seeing.
When she woke up, she quickly got ready and waited for Jonathan to pick her up. When she heard his honk she made her way out the door, bag and coffee in hand. This time without any school supplies.
Outside, Jonathan stood leaning against his car. "Someone's early," she said. "Yeah yeah, get in," he said as he opened the passenger door for her.
"Oh, should I take the back?" she teased. She didn't really understand what was going on with Jonathan and Nancy but she knew he'd tease her for less.
