MAVIS WAS ON THE PHONE WITH HER UNCLE WHEN BARB AND NANCY ARRIVED. He usually called sporadically throughout the week. She guessed that the news had made its' way out of Hawkins, as he was telling her to stay safe and not go out.

She had just been promising him that she'd stay inside and be careful when Nancy and Barb burst through the door, "Who's ready to party!" Nancy awkwardly shouted, poking fun at the two hesitant girls. The irony of it all really hitting her. She shushed her hoping with every fiber of her being that her uncle didn't hear that.

Now off the phone, she headed to her room, ushering for them to follow. Nancy had asked Mavis if she could borrow a top to wear for the party earlier that day. Of course, she said yes.

As they looked through her closet Nancy's eyes shifted from top to top.

"Oh and just a heads up, keep an eye out for Tommy, he's a total shit when it comes to throwing people in the pool," Mavis said.

Nancy changed into a different top and found herself standing in front of the mirror unsure.

"Are you guys sure this looks good?"

"Yes Nance, but it doesn't matter what you wear, he'll like you either way," Mavis said rolling her eyes playfully. She knew Nancy was nervous and predicted that she would try to psyche herself out over something as simple as a top.

Nancy slouched her shoulders in a faux annoyance.

Barb scoffed, "yeah I hear he's big on personality," she said sarcastically.

They headed out shortly after. Most of the short car ride was spent talking about how excited and then nervous Nancy was.

"It'll be fun guys don't worry, right Mavis?" Nancy asked, looking back at Mavis for some reassurance.

She was looking in the wrong direction.

"Yeah," She said half convincingly, "just hope Tommy doesn't ruin it." Tommy had always been a royal ass to Mavis. Never able to really decide if he just hated her or wanted to sleep with her. Regardless of how he felt it didn't change Mavis's opinion of him, she had always disliked Tommy.

"He won't, if he annoys us we can stick together," Nancy said.

This caused Barb to laugh sarcastically, "if you're not too busy with Steve."

Biting her tongue, Nancy let out a small giggle. Even though Barb's comment was meant to be a dig, Nancy knew it was true and she was excited to see Steve.

They had driven a little further when Nancy suddenly spoke. "Barbara, pull over."

"What?" Barb questioned, glancing over at her before forcing her eyes back onto the road.

"Pull over!" she called out again, this time urgent. Barb stopped the car in fear that something was wrong. Fearing that Nancy was about to puke from nerves Mavis covered her ears.

After a few moments, she brought her hands down, realizing that was indeed not what was happening.

"What are we doing here?" Barb questioned.

"Nance we're still like three blocks away," Mavis said.

"I know, we can't park in the driveway!" she said. Barb turned to her, now annoyed,

"Are you serious?" Barb asked in disbelief.

Nancy turned to her, now just as annoyed, "Yes! The neighbors might see."

"This is so stupid, I'm just gonna drop you off," Barb said, moving her hand down to shift back into drive. Before she could shift it Nancy's hand met hers.
