Btw ssenruos here! If you smoke you do you okay?

"Sunmi?" Someone called her name

Her eyes widen, trying to find where the voice was

She looks around and sees her mother looking at her from the kitchen.

Her mom hurriedly snatches it off her daughter's hand and puts it in a cup of water.

"MOM!" She shouts

"Don't what Mom me Jeong Sunmi! How... how can you smoke after all I've told you," Her mother said

"What you said won't change my mind, it's my lungs anyways," She said

"Your health everything can deteriorate," Her mother said

"I'll deteriorate from old age," She said taking out a new bud

Before Sunmi could light it up her mom takes it off her hands

"Sunmi, don't be like your dad, at a young age your dad slowly started looking older than his actual age, with yellow teeth, not getting any job offers after seeing his oral hygiene," Her mother explains

"I wouldn't want that happening to you," Her mother asked

"When did you start smoking?"

She sighs I'm already getting scolded, might as well reveal the whole thing

"Senior year of high school," Sunmi said

She smacks her arm "why would a 19-year-old smoke?"

"I was stressed even now and there were a bunch of people who smoked at the age of 13 mom," Sunmi crossed her arm

"That's their parent's problem, you're my child and I'm concerned about your health."

"Tell me how many times you smoke a day."

Here we go. Sunmi takes a deep breath in and out... "Twice a day."

She earns a smack from her mom "Twice a day? Not once a week oh my god Jeong Sunmi."

"Mom! I am 23, two three like that one iu song."

"I'm keeping this," She takes the lighter and puts it in her bag

"Mom! That's the only thing I have of dad," Sunmi said

"You have photos."

"Actual items that I can hold mom."

"Well if you want this back I want you to cut down on your smoking habits, once or twice a week, or even better, stop!" Her mother said

"Why are you even here mom?"

"I wanted to see my daughter and luckily I did or else I wouldn't have known you smoke," She said

"If you hated dad for smoking, why did you even marry him?" Sunni asked

Her mother sighs, bringing her to the couch to sit "You see, your dad started smoking even before we started dating."

"I had the biggest crush on him, he was the neighbourhood's residential bad boy and I thought he was extremely handsome."

"We started dating, got married, moved in together, and had you! When I knew that I was pregnant I started reading articles, going to classes on how to take care of you, what I should do if you have your period and all that."

"But one particular course made me want to throw that cigarette away from our family, the lady said that we shouldn't smoke while we are pregnant cause it can cause implications, no one should smoke while I was pregnant and you growing up."

"But your dad continued even when I told him that it can cause his life and ours, they say they love and cherish us but do they really?" Her mother said

"I love him even now, so when someone says you should stop doing something even if you like doing it, think about how it affects other people, if it doesn't then that's good but if it does where it can really affect their life then to should really consider quitting."

"But I like-"

Sunmi gets interrupted "Yea you like to smoke, yes it can give you relief but does it give you the support you need? The actual support you need to help you release all the stress?"

"And why are you stressed? You can always talk to me you know?" She held her daughter's hand

Sunmi looks at her hand, and takes a deep breath "Okay then, I'm stressed out cause of school, studying hard I have to remember so many things for my exams."

"Well school isn't that stressful once you start working you'll be even more stress, school was easy I would always get As" Her mom laughs it off

Sunmi rolls her eyes "And you asked why I never tell you these things."

"What?"

Sunmi removes her hand from her mother's touch

"I was talking about why I'm stressed out but you just had to make it all about you, mom it's 2022 the things you went through were different, I am not you, you think I can pass something, uni is hard you think it's easy to get first-class honours? I can't even go above B."

"I have competition with a bunch of people and one of them is you," She stood up and looks at her mother with tears

"I never asked for words to come out of your mouth, I just wanted someone to hear how I feel, I didn't want your opinion I wanted someone to listen to my worries."

"But it seems like you added more fuel to the fire," She walk to her room

"S-Sunmi!"
