"I never asked for words to come out of your mouth, I just wanted someone to hear how I feel, I didn't want your opinion I want someone to listen to my worries," Sunmi said with tears in her eyes
"But it seems like you added more fuel to the fire," She runs to her room
"S-Sunmi!" Her mother calls
"Sunmi I-I was just telling you how my life was back then!" She said at the other side of the door
"Yeah back then, if you think school is so easy then you wouldn't have a problem taking the exams for me," Sunmi said
-
Seonghwa just entered his home when he hears a loud shout coming from the other side of the house.
"What was that?" Seonghwa's mom asked in worry
"I think it's our neighbour," Seonghwa said
They heard "Don't what Mom me Jeong Sunmi! How... how can you smoke after all I've told you," Her mother said
"What you said won't change my mind, it's my lungs anyways," She said
"Sounds like a family feud," His father said
"Sunmi's mom, her mom hates smoking, Sunmi just asked me to give her the lighter back... oh no," Seonghwa quickly walks to the door the help Sunmi
"Son where are you going? you just came back, aren't you tired?" His dad said
"I am but it sounds like our neighbours are in trouble," He said
"Pfft what I don't hear anything," His dad said
Seonghwa gives him a questioning look on his face
"Look son, it's our neighbours we shouldn't meddle in their business and besides we would want to get involved in some family feud do you?"
"I- uh" His dad looks at him expectantly, and he sighs in defeat "...no dad,"
"Good now go to the showers and eat, you need to get some rest for your lectures," His father said
-
As Seonghwa lay down on his bed he kept thinking about Sunmi.
"I shouldn't have given her the lighter, I should've just kept it," He said to himself
"But it's not yours to keep, it's Sunmi's anyways," He said to himself, sitting up
"No, stop being concerned, it's her lighter, her life," He laid back down and pull up his blanket, trying to get a shut-eye

"God I can't," He gets up from his bed and walks out of the house
He goes up the elevator to the rooftop to get some fresh air.
He sighs
"Same," Someone said
He turns around and sees Sunmi playing with her lighter that she took back from her mom's bag
"What do you mean same?" He asked
"I don't know, you sighed and I just assumed you were exhausted, drained," Sunmi said
"Maybe? I heard some loud mumbles from next door," As Sunmi hears the sentence he said, she stiffened
"What did you hear?" She asked
"You had a fight with your mom, you okay?" He asked
"Yeah, I hope she's okay too though, I might hate her right now but talking about dad makes her sad," She said
Seonghwa gulps, contemplating whether it was alright to ask a question
"Sunmi," He starts
She hummed in response and turned in his direction for him to continue
"If it's alright, May I ask what happened to your Dad? You mentioned him quite a lot," Seonghwa said
"Well, you've seen enough to hear huh? Well...
Flashback to the accident
The Sunmi opens her eyes to the big impact. The car her family rode was upside down. She turns left and right and sees her mother laying next to her, "Mom? MOM!" She shakes her hard wanting her mother to wake up
"Dad," She looks at the person who was in front of her seat. The young Sunmi tries to get up and shake her father to check if he was awake but her legs were stuck in the car seat.
Her father was losing a lot of blood which cause him to lose oxygen. He eventually dies due to an excessive amount of blood loss.
Luckily her mother was alive. It took a lot of physical therapy for both of them to be able to walk again but fortunately after 2 years she was able to walk again.
End of Flashback
"My family was in a car crash, it was raining heavily, and my dad died from severe loss of blood," She explained
"I was in the back seat with my mother, I had the least amount of injuries cause my mom protected me from it," She wipes out a tear she unknowingly let out
"It's not your fault," Seonghwa said
"I know it's not, so many cars crash every single day whenever it rains," She said
"Then why do you drive? the bus or your friends can drive you?" He asked
"True, I'm too scared to drive in the rain, my vision gets blurry, especially in cars."
"If I'm on the bus or one of my friend's driving at least I know I'm not alone and won't get my vision blurry from me driving but having my own is convenient, it only happens when it's raining so I try not to drive when it does," Sunmi said
"There are times when I'm driving and it begins to rain," She chuckles "I'm sure you noticed my reaction, there are times when I would just stop, trying to catch my breath while all the cars driving around are honking at me."
"But honestly speaking I think I'm getting better," She said
"Better?" He scoffs
"Yes, I used to not be in any vehicle, a bus, a motor, a plane! I was so scared back then, but I had a support system, my therapist, mom and my friends definitely helped me through that process," She said
She became fidgety
"Maybe I should really stop smoking."
