I was lookin' for somethin' to sink my teeth into
I didn't know what I wanted,
But now I do

I want what you have,
I want what you have now
Give it to me
-I want what you have, Willamette Stones

Draco

I awoke on saturday morning and was finally released from the hospital wing. I hurried into the dorms and changed into a black tee shirt and jeans, I slipped into tennis shoes and ran outside.
Last night I decided to tell Hermione how I felt and that I was sorry and then we could figure it out together. I rushed to find her so that I could tell her before I changed my mind.
It was a mild day and lots of people were outside. I spotted her with Potter and Weasley. There were all sitting under a tree talking. I was nervous but I stomped up to them and waited. They all looked up at me. Potter and Weasley we scowling but hermione just looked scared. I don't want her to be scared of me.
I scowled back at them and blurted out, "Granger, I need to talk to you."
She opened her mouth to speak but Ronald Weasley cut in, "Go away, Malfoy!" He spat it at me but I ignored him and looked at her.
"Its fine, guys." then she looked to me and said, "I'll go," She stood up.
"What are you doing, Hermione?" Harry asked, butting in.
She looked embarrassed and nervous but she said, "Well, a couple of days ago I kind of broke his hand with my book and, um. . ." she trailed off and paused, "I'll see you guys later." They both gaped at her but I turned and she followed me.
I led her to the lake because there were fewer people there. I stopped on the sand and she stood in front of me waiting.
"Okay, I'm going to say something and you just have to listen. Okay?" She smiled at my reference to what she said before and nodded.
"Okay," I took a breath and spoke, "I like you. I really do and that was why I was following you. I wanted to be with you but I didn't know how and-" I cut myself off then continued, "I like you a lot and I hope you like me too." The whole time I was looking at her face, her eyes. Her cheeks were pink and her lips were tight. Here eyes were looking straight into mine. I waited hopefully for her to reply.
"But?"
"No But."
"But we can't actually be together because I'm a mudblood and your father hates me and I'm Gryffindor and you are Slytherin."
"I know, but. . ." I started but I couldn't finish it. I sat down on the cold ground and rested my chin in my palms. She sat down next to me and we sat quietly for a minute. She hesitantly reached out and touched my arm but when I looked at her she pulled away. Was she really scared of me?
"I like you draco." She was looking at me now and I looked right back at her. "I should get back to Harry and Ron now but I want to talk to you, about this, again. Monday?" I nodded and she was off.
